Hello. How many of you disinfect the walls and floor of your trailer when you use it and what do you wash it with? I usually just brush out the poo and luckily haven't had a pony wee in it yet so haven't ever washed the floor inside.

I saw someone at another yard throwing bubbly buckets of water/detergent in the back of her trailer and that got me thinking

I can see the logic in disinfecting it but then isn't it a nightmare to lift the mats to dry it completely. Trailer is a IW 505 with ally floor underneath rubber mats.

i have a 505 alloy floor too and slosh water over the floor and sweep it out after every use - but i don't use shavings etc - then leave the doors open to dry... so it's always perfectly clean to go back to :)
i disinfected it when i first got it as it was 2nd hand

ours goes to our local hand car wash once a year for £15. bargain :D

though we hang on till proper summer so it can dry easily.

eta apart from that we just sweep it out every use.

I hose mine out every time, winter or summer and just ramp it up when I park it so everything drains. Mats come up once a year when I do my annual clean!. I only disinfect if I have put a friends horse in it but dont do that very often.

Disinfect?! Whoops! I haven't done that! I do sweep it out after every use and put down straw just at the back to collect poo. Once we get back home after using it, I sweep out, hose down and put a squirt of fairy liquid on it, brush and then leave to dry. Has been fine so far :)

those that wash it every use, how often do you use it. Ours is often out twice a week hence I aint washing it every time, particularly as in winter it is often dark! :p

Wooden floor, only rinse out if horse has peed in it. Then I use clean shavings to dry up water.
The lift mats to sides and leave to dry overnight.

Normally just muck out and leave clean shavings in a pile at the front.

Pony often wees in the trailer so when I get home I sweep out the poo and sloosh a bucket of water through which I brush through as well. then when I park it I leave it slightly higher at the front so that it drains.

Probably jet wash it about twice a year.

my trailer is not used that often, once week, once a fortnight at the least. Its jet washed out after each use or swept/rinse at the yard, then jet washed when I bring it home. Its cleaned properly with Bobby Dazzler stuff every 6 months or so........whenever hubby does it ;);)
