A few years ago I had one YO who insisted that when she brought in she would wash the horses legs off.
That is the only time in 6 years my mare has got mud fever, up to her knees that needed antibiotics!!!
Since then I just leave it and brush it off when dry, not even a scab and I am on heavy, deep, ill draining Cumbrian Clay!
