Hi all, I really need to get a washing machine just for our horses stuff in the New Year. What would you all recommend?

I just got a cheapish one think it was less than 200 delivered. It's out in a shed so I'd rather buy cheap due to that. It's an indesit. It's lasted over 2 years so far. Make sure you get one with an easy to access filter. Mine is well abused!

what are you planning to wash? just saddlecloths ? or rugs as well ? I bought a LG 12kg direct drive machine 3 yrs ago, fits large winter rugs of the big horses and also does my own laundry.

If you're planning on washing rugs get a machine with "direct drive" it will last longer because the rugs are so heavy with water in them!

Personally I think it's cruel to stick horses in washing machines - it makes them dizzy. I know they all get muddy this time of year, but really :-)

Joking apart, I bought a cheap Hotpoint Aqualtis which has a 12kg load.

I have a huge too loading LG washing machine, hasn't let me down in 15 years (yet!) And it has these nifty little filter bags which catch the hair and turn it into little mouse shaped fur balls

I wanted a 14kg machine but couldn't find one that would fit under a standard worktop so opted for a 12kg Samsung ecobubble. I can fit most of my rugs in it inc 7' and easily get 4 saddlepads plus bandages in.

I bought a 9kg hotpoint for boots, saddleclothes etc. Just a cheap and cheerful in the Currys sale £150.

It sat in my garage for 6 months waiting to go to yard and meantime my stupidly expensive Samsung £400 washing machine broke so its now the House one. Oops.

It still washes horse things though as that was what it was bought for, I just do two empty washes after.
