who like me thinks it's normal to wash your horses gear with you clothes in the washing machine at home

I do - we used to have a 'horse clothes' one but it broke and I haven't yet replaced it

Well I use the same washing machine, but I don't actually put numnahs and tail bandages etc in with our clothes - I do them on a separate wash and then afterwards I put the machine on a rinse to get rid of the hair.

I do put really grubby stuff in pillow cases/ duvet covers so does that redeem me?

I don't wash it all together, I don't really want horse hair stuck in my clothes anymore than I have to. Like boxers, I do a wash then run the machine on a rinse wash.

I have done on one occasion a few months back,but im still getting grey hairs all over everything now,so i wont be doing it again!!

Im quite lucky because we have a communal washing machine at the yard.

I wash my horsey clothes (jods and stuff) with my normal clothes but not horsey attire like boots, bandages, numnahs etc. I don't want horse hair all over my work clothes!

And heaven forbid that I put any of my OH's clothes in with my horsey clothes...I wouldn't last long!!!

my horsey stuff goes in a seperate wash, OH would be very upset if I got horse hair on his clothes!! I usually put everything in an old duvet cover.

Wash horse stuff separately and make sure OH's clothes go in the wash after (incase of any stray hair still in the machine)!!!!

Nope.... not even in the same machine now.... Merlin is a posh boy and has his own Bosch!!!

Before I treated him (or rather us) to a new machine, I used to wash i our machine, but had to make sure all hairs gone before I put our clothes in!!

I clogged up and broke our last machine with hair, have to wash 12 very hairy ponies numnahs and girths about twice a week.
I've now splashed out on one of those wash bags, it fits 4 or 5 numnahs and saves lots of arguments with OH.

Our YO has just bought a huge washing machine & it's quite cheap to get rugs/ numnahs etc washed.

If you tumble dry on cold for about 5mins before washing, the hairs are all removed (the worst of them at least).

i wash my rugs etc on their own then do a rinse wash to clean the machine out.and make sure none on flat mates are in when i do it!!!LOL.

I have a separate WM for the horses - Sounds posh, but it was the house one that was demoted due to leakage!
