Washing rugs? What machine do you use? Twin tubs anyone?

Hi, guess I can't be the only one looking to clean and reproof my own rugs. Any advice on suitable machines for 6'6'' heavyweight type rugs? Not looking to buy an industrial machine as that would break the bank but has anyone tried the old fashioned twin tubs? I know that Mag and Polar do these but can't find any reviews from horse owners. Any advice appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Dont use the washing machine, use the barrel method. It works quite well.
