Washing turnouts

Yes I do my lightweights - wash with Nikwax rug wash in washing machine and reproof with Nikwa rug proof if needed; again in washing machine - just follow the instructions on the bottle. Note of advice - if you have a washing machine that starts the cycle with a short fill and empty, don't add the Nickwax liquid until after this part of the cycle has done otherwise you lose the liquid!

I also use Nikwax, and I wash all my rugs myself, including the heavyweights. I do have the advantage of being able to use the monster washer and dryer at work, as my home one wouldn't accommodate my 6'9 combos.

I don't reproof every time they're washed, however - maybe one time in three, but because all I'm paying for is the Nikwax, I guess they get washed more often than I would ordinarily. They're all still waterproof and some are a few years old, so "home" washing does work.

I have a large yard washing machine that I wash all my rugs in. I use Nikwax on a 30o wash and have never rep roofed them in all the time I've been washing them. So far none have leaked (Rambo, Bucas, PE and Weatherbeeta)

I don't have the luxury of a yard washing machine, fortunately none of mine have heavy turnouts (I sneak into the laundrette if I have anything big) but had issues after using the wash in stuff, hence why I use the spray or paint on stuff.

Husband would love us to have a seperate machine! My rationale is that a new machine is about £250, we have 6 horses, if I pass someone else to do it, it would be more than a new machine! got away with it for the last 10 years and same machine! For now...
