Does anyone on here wash and reproof their own rugs. I thought I might do mine myself but not sure what detergent to use. Have got a pressure washer and will get some reproofer from the camping store. Any advice would be greatly received

well the day before yesterday i washed all my equine stuff in the bath, was told to use normal washing powder, just make sure you rinse rinse rinse, so i did and its all fine, come out lovely and i reckon i've saved £20!!!

Will be doing it myself from now on!

Yes, Use NikWax Rug wash, it doesn't remove the waterproofing. Unless you've got a huge washing machine though, don't try and wash anything much bigger than a 5ft6 or 5ft 9 unless it's a lightweight and then you can get a 6ft in the machine with room to tumble. Anything bigger and it won't wash properly as it'll be too jammed in.

Thats a thought I have just been given a bath from the plumber next door. Its in the garden waiting to be taken to the yard for use as a trough. Looks like its got another use now. Thanks for that

my stable rugs I do the washing machine up the yard and my turn outs every other year I send off for re-proofing and the year gap with a pressure washer and rugs over the washing line with soap powder

I was going to wash them outside and leave them on the line to dry. My rugs are all 7ft - 7ft 6 so will definitely not fit in the machine or tumble dryer
