Watching a video that just makes sense!

Even in the warm up the horse looks like it’s got a tendency to go BTV (I don’t know the trainer or either of their backgrounds to know if that’s how it’s trained, ridden etc) - obv she’s going to struggle to ride it really competently first time out.

There's 'tendency to go BTV' and then there's what the video showed. One would have thought that, if the BTV was indeed a tendency or a training issue, that would have come up in the video, e.g., through him saying what he was doing while riding to resolve it. But, in an almost hour long video, that was never once discussed.

Besides, the horse was more BTV with the trainer than with her; my comment wasn't about her riding in particular.

I really like Ashley’s videos as really show the ups and downs of trying to compete against the big guys. Also shows a great relationship she has with her horse.

I also enjoyed seeing her ride her 4* horse around a baby hunter trial doing pairs with her dad - not something that many 4* horse/rider combinations would be up to! But yeah, it's a channel I enjoy because it is educational and aspirational - but to a lot of people the ME channels is also like that. I've got no issue with her in general - I've just spent slightly too long staring at her dressage tests and feeling confused about how they score so consistently - but I am no dressage judge!

Her two main horses are technically horses, they're both overheight connies so 15'1-ish I think. Still doesn't take anything away from it tho, watching them tackle a BE100 is enough to put the frights into me.

For comparison, Ashley Harrison is out competing at 2* level and while I do enjoy her videos as well its not like your average leisure rider, like me, gets anything "more" out of them. Its entertainment, not instruction.

Ive never heard of her, off for a you toob ?

I'm a fan of Meg, I think she does a fab job. I love it that she does well on the little guns, she's always against others on much bigger horses, and is clearly very comfortable with the heights she is jumping, so kick on gal I say! When I find my brave pants again, I'd like to do what she does. Still takes guts!
Also like to add, I watch Flo Carter too, and her dun horse who makes jumping BEnovice look easy!

I quite like Flo as an incredible little horse who really jumps and lots of learning along the way by the rider.

I guess I just don’t find competing at 90 very interesting as to me that’s entry level for horses. They normally do a few for education and move onto 100.

I've not seen any of her vids before and tbh never heard of her so I had a quick look at the beginning and the end. I really enjoyed what I saw and think most grassroots riders would get something from her videos (if this is typical). I have ridden big moving well schooled dressage horses and it is not easy to adapt if you are used to smaller equines with less movement. I've also seen riders struggle to even get a canter transition, then find they are doing random changes all over the place because they can't keep their seat or they can't even turn the horse. I had a lunge lesson and it made me feel like a complete beginner + I could barely walk when I got off! So well done Megan!

We had to swap horses 5/10 mins in because I couldn't get him to walk in a straight line as I was unintentionally pressing various buttons. Poor boy was very patient with me but also very confused!

Yesterday Megan did a video of riding an advanced eventing horse and it was really interesting. She had a fall at Bicton and spoke about how she had been struggling since this. At one point she pulled up in the lesson and I could relate to that even though I don't do exercises as advanced as they were doing, but the feeling of getting overwhelmed and hitting a wall. She worked through it which was so great to see.

I enjoy Megan’s videos - have just watched her most recent one in the series with event rider Simon Grieve I believe it is. Really enjoyed this one and what a wonderful man Simon seems to be, and lovely with the horses!

I'll take a look at that - have just seen its Simon Grieve who's good fun and also very sensible - so seems like decent content to be putting out there.

I mean, out of all the eventing vlogs she does I would say that most of them are of 100s.
