watching crufts?

Been watching most of the sfternoon. The team I train with are in the flyball tomorrow. OH is their box loader so will watch with a bundle of nerves.
Love the heelwork to music today and the agility as well as the flyball of course.
What did you think of PP's commentary?

There will be ateam near you if you are seriuosly interested. You don't have to have a collie, any dog who loves a tennis ball can do it.
Very addictive, lol.

He's tennis ball obsessed!! will def try at some point.

He's booked in for his 1st agility session next week! finally 18 months!! :)

Hmm bit of a fluffy commentary to the More4 programme and usual rubbish about not being able to have a dog if you have a full time job, but rest is great. Will have to go back an find the flyball. I really want to find somewhere to do it with Toby, he may be a poodle but he is bloomin quick!
I like the gun dog and working groups best.

Hey Spudlet, was watching Crufts with my son, and being rude about some of the overweight gundogs. Son said he didn't like the cocker with the "curtain between its front and back legs" and then said, "that dog that stole the food at the barbecue was a cocker wasn't it", I replied yes, he then went on "I liked him far better than that one at Crufts". :D

MM, you should have heard me when I saw that lab! What a state! See that doing a day's work!

I knew I liked your lad, what an intelligent young man with excellent taste;):D

haha fabulous MM! :D
Disappointing group I thought TBH...the flatcoat was lovely and very deserving but there were a few that I thought 'how the hell did that win BOB!'

I picked the flatcoat too, also liked the English Pointer. There was one looked lame to me, can't think which it was now. But of course it wasn't one of the breeds on the hit list to be examined by a vet.

the gsp looked lame to me...and there was another I thought looked a bit wonky too, cant rememeber which that was but the gsp was definately lame

I liked the flat coat and the pointer, also the cocker (although she'd need a haircut and a ton of mud applying before she'd fit in here:p). The lab made me really sad though, she is no doubt a lovely dog but so fat - and the contrast between her and the working labs they showed doing a gundog demo earlier was massive. It's not good enough, Barney was a show-type but he was never fat like that!

lovely to see a wire in the line up though. AND I did snobbily notice....fancy showing your bloomin dog in the group at crufts on a slip lead that looks like the freebies that I get at my vet (for spending vast sums of money with them )

OH and I both said "my god that dog is fat" at the same time about the Lab. Also we both noticed the lame dog.
All in all though, it was terrible coverage of the dogs. It was 3/4 of presenters and if any of them mention about dogs having fun, fit for purpose and the like again I think I will scream.
I know the dog world has a lot of repair work to do after that "pedigree dogs exposed" a couple of years ago but they just keep repeating the same things. Driving me mad.
The on line coverage is much better as you see it live and you can turn the sound down to block the rubbish comments and errors.

Im just rewatching on sky + yea the lab is a chub...thats not that fat for a show type being shown though!

Maybe lab judges all moonlight as horse show judges at weekends?:p

Yes, we could have done with fewer people - and may I ask:

a. WHY is that vet wandering around in scrubs - last I heard membership of the RCVS does not involve foreswearing all other forms of clothing?

b. Is there any way we could get rid of that smarmy git doing the 'what dog would suit me' bit? Also, is it me or were there hardly any dogs to suit anyone?

c. Was I the only one to get a bit teary at the Friends for Life films?:o

Don't know. Does anyone? It annoyed me too.

That smarmy git interviewed one of aour Team last year. It took an hour to get about 2 minutes Tv time and he just didn't listen to what we were saying.

c. Was I the only one to get a bit teary at the Friends for Life films?

How can you choose between them. They are all absoulutely fantastic and desrving of the win. I was very teary too

Can we get rid of the smarmy git full stop? I remember him really annoying me last year as well, he just comes across as a great big ****. :o

Eagerly awaiting spitzy things tomorrow. :D

I was very teary, especially at Merlin, he reminded me a lot of a certain Springer not a million miles away! :D

Well chuffed with the Flat Coat, he was my favourite (maybe because OH and I made the decision the other day that our next dog would be a Flat Coat... or a Springer :D)
Mummy was pleased for the IWS too, typical bloody thing though, ah a strange man touching me, tail between legs
It was the Sussex that looked lame I think.
I actually thought the Lab looked trim compared to normal, yes squat and not athletic looking, but not hugely obese - it did have a slight waist!

Oh and I came in to AAD tonight to count the posts made about how nice it was to see happy dogs with long wagging tails :D :D

Thought last year that the vet was a bit of a prat in his scrubs, maybe he watches too much ER :D

And no, you weren't the only one to get teary. Being a pessimist I also worry how some of those folk, the little girl especially, will cope when the inevitable happens and they lose their best friend. :(
