Anybody used a towable water bowser to take water to a field? How big is it & how often do you have to refill?
Looking at options for the land I hope to buy. Mains may be problematic as mains would need to go along a farm track & we have not been able to trace the owner of the track - it's not the owner of any of the fields it accesses.

We have 1000 Ltr plastic one, It dose have a slight drip @ the moment but we have to fill it every 1 / 2 weeks, depending on the weather, i.e. if its hot or wet it makes a difference, I have 2 horses 15.1 & 16.3, My Mum also keeps her 6 pet sheep in the field.

We have looked in to water and we hope to be connected in the next month or so, we are connecting from our local village Hall the connection is only 4 / 6 meters from our field & that's costing £2500.

I know this is obvious but make sure you have some thing to pull it with, we use a Landrover Disco & that struggles at times, (we have to go slightly up hill in to our filed & when its wet) Having said that we have coped well with it for the past 4 years! ( looking forward to mains water though)

I know if I do manage to get the ok for mains it's going to cost megabucks as tthey will have to come around a church yard so it's quite a long way. I was also thinking of collecting rainwater so I don't have to do quite so many trips with the bowser.

If you can go XC it might no be to bad, the connection is the expensive part, you can dig your own trench to put the pipe in, we have hired a mini digger for various reasons in the past for £70 a day. When we first looked in to it we was told we could only connect from the main road through our village which would have cost loads coz they would have had to dig the road up & we then would have had to run a pipe up the lane a fare way. Its up to you to find permission from other sources, in our case the farmer @ the end of the lane or the Village Hall, If any of the surrounding Fields have water you can connect from them, They would put a water meter on from there junction? If you have friendly farmers that is! or if you say you would have to go round the church why not connect from there? the church must have water, it can be done you just need to get the permission

The trouble with connecting to the church is that the grave yard is between us & their water supply, so digging a trench through there is rather a no no! Coming round the church yard menas heck of a long trench but the big problem is tracking down who owns the land. The field it accesses were all sold off seperately about 150 years ago, but the track wasn't sold & finding out who has inherited it down the years is a nightmare.

Good piont didnt think of the bodies!! we had the same problem with our lane that runs along side our field we know who owns the farm at the bottom & the Village Hall who own there car park, at the top of the lane there is a pub who own there car park but no one knew who owned the lane its self. i cant remember the out come i will ask my partner he did all the work looking in to it! we were rather conserned when we bough the filed because our filed gate opens on to the lane. I will let you know if he can remember any thing that might help!
