Where do you keep yours and what to you keep it in? Lad is always, either tipping it, poohing in it, or putting his hay in it.:o

Mine is on a big bucket in a corner. You could try putting your buckets in a car tyre to make them hard to tip - especially if they are close fitting. Good luck
:-)

Yay, an answer :). Thank you. Tried the tyre thing, but he's a clumsy playful ape who tips it on purpose, but its the best option at the moment so thats what ive been doing, but still having problems. Was wondering about one of those corner mangers, but then thought maybe if the water got dirty it would be too heavy to lift out from the frame or if he would scratch his bum on it and wreck it, as he's an itchy lad

I had a frame in corner of stable which took a two gallon bucket but has a fault side to fit again t wall. Never had any problems with it and used for years with our old pony. I have noticed you can still get them at equine stores.
Last winter I used the extra large containers in a corner away from the door so they did not freeze and they did really well, being round and heavy theory do not tip up.

I had a hyperactive naughty vandal of a pony who loved putting water into his bed! We won by putting bucket into one of the wall holders, with a clip on the handle (attached to wall like a tie ring) to stop him lifting it out.

It took me a couple of weeks of having a VERY wet stable to realise it was from my boy playing with the water, (he wasn't tipping it fully over, there was always some left next morning and it was always in the right place) but one day I saw him knocking it about.

I solved the issue by getting dad to attach two tie rings in the corner of my stable, where the handles of the buckets sat and fastening the bucket down. I now just have a tyre with the bucket in it :D

I'd try waters in a tyre or on the wall & rry giving him something else to play with in his stable - a nut ball, jolly ball or even a suede on a rope or something .... it might distract him from thinking his waters are a toy!

I use the large tub trugs and never have a problem - when they are more than half full they are too heavy to tip, and they are also flexible enough not to be tipped easily.

One stable has a proper water trough, super as they can't move it and I don't have to fill it. If I want to monitor how much they drink I can turn the auto fill off.

The other has a large plastic drum, once that is full they can't knock it over but they do throw hay in it and sometimes poo. That has only been knocked over once, that was pesky cows rubbing on their gate and knocking it open and sending the water drum flying in the process. Ponies and cows all mixed up by morning! Luckily the cows weren't being fed silage at the time so no harm done.
