Just wondering whatt he rules are, re which classes they are found in and any rules re size of tray?

I think they are optional in all classes from British Novice upwards so you may encounter them what ever class you do. I'm not sure re the dimensions though.

I don't think there are any rules as to size etc. The only rule is that a water tray is classed as a spread fence, so if you have the poles either in the middle or at the back of the tray they all have to be on collasable cups. But if the poles are at the front with the tray sticking out the back the poles are then classed as a front pole and do not need collasable cups. Most of the water trays around here are built like that now.

Water trays seem to appear in jump offs in various qualifiers as well.

I met one in a 85cm unaff/traalbralzers class on tuesday. Bloomin wide too, lots of trouble at it for everyone!

Depends on the course builder, but compulsory for Newcomers and Fox. One of the course builders that we use, always puts it in as an optional fence in all classes from BN. He'll make it fence 10 and have a very square upright, next to a water - the competitor gets the option what to jump.

Think it's a good idea, as horses will then see them frequently and not be freaked out when they come across them. Often see competitors kicking dirt into them.
