today had a jumping lesson

now i have hunted/xc/shown & stressaged in my hanging cheek which my horse goes well in

SJ is another dilema

he is VERY strong & ploughs at the fences...i have NO control or breaks...

spoke this over with my yard owner who suggested a waterford snaffle

do i go for the waterford snaffle or waterford hanging cheek?

I would borrow one, as usually the waterford is used for horses that grab hold and lean on the bit and not so much for just horses that are strong...it may work for you if he's grabbing the bit when jumping, but to avoid wasting money, try to borrow one or go to the bit bank and have one on trial.
If he already works well in a hanging cheek, I'd probably try that one first.

i wouldnt have thought a waterford would help you with brakes the one i have in on taz certainly doesnt it just stops him from ploughing through and leaning on me all the time

Hi there. If you want to try out a bit there's a place called "Bits 4 Us" (or "Bits R Us") - something like that which you can access on line. Sorry I can't remember exactly what they're called but they're really helpful and you can ask to have a bit on trial and if it fits then you can buy it.

So sorry I can't remember exactly what they're called, but I'm sure you can find them on-line.
