waterford?

I am a fan of these bits, when used in the right hands. My friend has a waterford snaffle for her welsh d who used to pull his head down and buck. He goes really nicely in this bit. My instructors show jumper (badly pulls) also goes really nicely.

If you're respectful of the horse's mouth and worried about him pulling, I would use a waterford. No harm in trying.

Why should she have a paddy with a standing martingale? You will not have it too tight, and she should be used to pressure down on her nose or does she not lead from a rope at the back of a headcollar? or tie up.

I use a waterford hanging cheek on my mare out hunting, but snaffle for schooling and hacking. This works well for her, gives me a bit more control out hunting.

Waterford used to work well on my loan horse... he objected to single joints and to gags and to curb chains...

So, I tried the waterford (hanging cheek) on him and he did go well in it. When he was sold I sent it off with him because he really did go best in it. He could be a pain to stop at times, but was ok with this.

I guess you have to try and see what works with your horse.
