Waterfords... yet again sorry

has anyone had experience of a horse learning to lead on a waterford bit?? when schooling on a hack by our selves I use a waterford as he has a tendancy to be on the forehand and lean heavinly on my hands.

Yesterday he was fine and quite light, but today god my arms ache. he just hung, no matter what I done, e.g. pushing him forward, half halts, change of gait the whole lot.

Is it common or as usual is my horse a freak of nature !!!?

(if in company I use a tom thumb lozenge as he has a habit of sticking is head between his legs and bucking like mad to go faster !!)
 
hi there my horse used to lean on any bit, started using a magic snaffle what a differance now light in my hands even when jumping and grid work
 
shires do them they call it a magic bradoon it looks like a straight bar with a little port in it and loose rings
 
just look on shop4bits and said the following

This mouthpiece would not be suitable if your horse leans on the bit or if they tend to take hold of the bit.
 
Does sound strange as I have found pickle however much he tries cant lean, the only way round he found was to pull the reins out of my hands when he used to be bad out hacking.
 
I wouldn't worry too much, sometimes even horses have off days!! Just put it down to a bad day and don't over analyse too much. If he keeps on doing the same thing then I would be looking for a reason but it sounds like it's just a one off to me.
