Waterproof clothing reccomendations

After getting a drenching working at the yard today (didn't stop the whole day

) I am looking for some more substancial waterproof clothing, have to say my mark todd showerproof coat lasted till the very end and I was very impressed

but I went through two pairs of waterproof trousers which were ok to begin with but after a huge soaking got me soaked.

So reccommendations

Musto. My last lightweight jacket lasted 4yrs of hard yard duties. Bought another in the sales to replace it.

Anything by Musto - might be worth investing in sailing rather than outdoorsey trousers as they're more likely to have the better Goretex waterproofing on them.

I think with horses though - the combination of mud, amonia and god knows what else doesn't do trousers any good. When I was working with horses, I went through about 3 pairs of w.p trousers per winter, if not more.

Coat wise - again anything Musto personally. Worth the cost IMHO. I've got the combination jacket which is fab or the Musto snug

yes my waterproof trousers certainly take a beating! allthough last pair was my own fault! I burnt a hole in them when warming by the heater!!!

For waterproof clothing for yard work forget going to a tack shop. You will pay far too much for clothing that isn't up to the job becuse it's labelled as 'Equestrian'. Go to an 'Outdoors' store, Camping store, 'Millets' etc & you will get quality watreproof clothing that will be up to the job at a more affordable price.

Gill waterproof trousers keep you dry without sweating up ! I got mine from a chandlery

Flexothane or Seal Flex for trousers. Used by everyone on a yard that only does hacks out on Dartmoor.

Also recommended by vets (cattle and equine) in Devon.

Am really bored of "waterproof" coats which are proofed - you can see the proofing washing out of them as they get wet. Need to find an alternative!
