I'm a huge aussie all-rounder fan but my current rug has gone rotten I think!! Its a fair few years old and this year keeps tearing in strange places. I've used it that much I just think the fabric is now rotten. Given the current weather, I'm toying with the idea of a waterproof fly rug. I've never used one before. Does it make the horses hotter? Are they actually waterproof, mot just shower proof? Any recommendations for makes. Thank you.

What are the saxon ones like? Look good and an excellent price!! After buying saxon as a stand in for other more expensive rugs , I must say I'm really impressed so far with what I've bought! Are the fly rugs waterproof?

Mine would be too warm to have as their only fly rug. I have waterproof ones for rainy days and normal for warm days.
Imo they are showerproof usually not totally waterproof, obviously some more so than others.

Although we have Aussie rugs we have just bought the PE waterproof fly rugs too. We did buy a cheap brand for one of the horses and it didn’t last a week! Obviously it’s only the top of the fly rug that is waterproof and the rugs have been good for the last few days in the rain and sun. I think they might be hotter than the Aussie rug though in very hot weather.

I've got the swish one, the top bit is very waterproof. I wouldn't use it in warm weather as my mare would get too hot but it was very useful in the spring.

I also got a couple of Swish ones, but they are too hot in proper summer weather
Tbh, if it's quite warm but rains, the fly sheet is dry in no time
Yes we have a waterproof swish fly rug which is fab, we also had a swish nylon fly rug but it was too hot. Not sure on the mesh ones…swish fit mine perfectly though so I’m a bit of a convert!
