Waterproof mucker boots is there such a thing?

Is there a pair of waterproof mucker type boots anywhere, you know the ones with the waterproof foot and the thermal or warm upper leg with the Velcro tabs but that part isn't waterproof.... Winter is almost upon us and the hunt begins for warm, comfy, waterproof foot coverings.... I have a wide leg and I am beginning to despair at finding the perfect (or not even that just ok will do).... I have tried the Kanyon Ash country boot as this has a wide leg but boy are they hard to get on and would you believe it the first time I wore them, they leaked... I thought it was just my feet getting a bit sweaty but no they let in water and the shop were not interested in giving me a refund all they said they were prepared to do was to send them back to the manufacturers to see what they had to say.... wasn't prepared to do that so I now have a pair of summer country boots as I daren't wear them in the wet... once they are on they are nice and comfy but you should see me hopping round the house trying to get them on, huffing and puffing.....!!!! I have also tried a pair of the willies with the neoprene leg and they are really heavy, rub at the heel and don't bend at all I walk like a zombie in them (although these are totally waterproof...)

I would dearly love a pair of long muck boots as I find them extremely comfortable, very warm, can ride in them in a pinch, wide legged with the Velcro tabs, but they are just not waterproof..... aargh... is it too much to ask for someone to produce a waterproof pair of these somehow....

any suggestions...??

OP. Please get onto Kanyon themselves, they have excellent customer services normally, I'd be very surprised if they couldn't help you out.

I ordered the Kanyon Oak ones for Christmas online and had the same problem (wouldn't go over my ankles no matter how much I breathed in!) so rang them up to see what they suggested which was to go up a size and use thicker socks; they would send the next size up for me if I would send the others back. The new pair were here within 36 hours in Christmas week and I hadn't even got to the post office with the original pair then; they fitted so well too.. That was nearly 3 years ago; they've been worn in every type of weather, mud and snow and never leaked even though I am notoriously bad at looking after them. those wellies I mentioned (and I can't believe I typed willies, til the I watched the bloody thing auto correct wellies to willies.... doh...!!!!)

Well they are Grubs and they are not very comfortable, I can't fault them for their waterproofing but quite heavy and very stiff at the back of the leg, when I first had them they rubbed my calves raw....!!!

Lol at willies!

I tried a pair of the Tyne Mucker boots so I could ride in them too without having to change. Like you, they were the most uncomfortable stiff boots I've ever had, gave me blisters within an hour, couldn't wait to sell them on.
My Nan always used to say buy the best you can that are comfortable as your feet have to last for the rest of your life - she was right; can put up with most things but my feet have to be warm and comfortable!

I am quite happy to pay more for the right pair of boots but how many do you need to try and how much money do you need to waste before you find the right ones....!!!
 
Exactly but don't laugh, my winter footwear for the yard is now (for the last four years) been a cheap pair of Dunlop wellies from the Factory Shop (£10) with a decent pair of fluffy insoles in them and decent walking socks so I am comfortable and warm and more importantly, DRY! They have a good deep tread too so no slipping in the ice. I'm only on my second pair of those now and that was because I speared them with a fork! My Nan would have approved! Might not look trendy but my feet don't care, they're warm and dry.

I am not about to laugh at any suggestion which works, I don't mind wellies (please auto correct stop changing the spelling...!!!) but sometimes the soles are quite thin and they are not the warmest, but I am open to any suggestion and £10 for a pair of wellies.... is great imo....

do you have a link to the factory shop (do they have a website or are they a shop..)?

Keeps feet very warm and toasty, easy to do up over johds or jeans. they are a bit clumpy though, and I'm not sure I'd want to ride in them.

I also have a pair of these: http://www.amazon.co.uk/ROK-LANARK-...UTF8&qid=1414508157&sr=1-2&keywords=rok+boots and unfortunately do not recommend them at all - very heavy with a vertical seam right on the heel, which give me weeping blisters within an hour of wearing them :(

I persevere with the Grubs boots but they are not comfortable at all and can only wear them for a short period of time and can only get them off with a boot jack, before I had a boot jack I had to try and find places round the yard to take off the boots and gave myself a really nasty cramp in the thigh in the process... why is buying a pair of winter boots such a problem....!!! boots that you can't get on, boots that you can't get off, waterproof boots that aren't waterproof, boots that are so thin in the soles, it is like wearing slippers, boots that rub the calf, heel or anywhere else you can mention.....!!!!
 
I really like my Aigle Parcours Iso wellies. They're expensive (about £120) but they're so warm and comfy and they seem to last forever. I'm about to go into winter number 3 in mine and my previous two pairs (Hunter and Ariat) didn't manage one between them. They're neoprene lined so really warm and the rubber is very soft and flexible so they don't rub. They're also descibed as a "rubber walking boot" rather than a welly (am typing very carefully!) so they have really good grippy soles. They look a little clumpy but they don't feel it once they're on. I have wide calves too and still have them on the narrowest fitting - they have a gusset and a strap but I don't need the gusset opened up at all.
 
I too am disappointed with Muck Boots. The first pair I ever had seemed to last forever; the next pair slightly less so, and from there on in they've progressively worn less well to the extent that they're as useless as a nun in a punch-up TBH.

Very annoying, and a waste of money IMO.

Shall have another look at some of the recommendations on here methinks.

Have you looked at woof wear long muck boots? I have them, warm and comfortable and I wade through an ankle deep puddle to get to my stable door and so far have stayed dry!

Thanks for that and not too pricey prepared to pay that sort of price for a decent waterproof comfy boot as I think £135 for a wellington is a little steep.... but they always hedge their bets don't they and say water resistant instead of waterproof but I may give them a go....

I have just got a pair of wide calved wellies from this place, they are very generous on my legs and even with the buckles done up are fitting my thunder calves fine. I am not sure about how well they will last long term or how comfortable they will be but am going to give them a try.

I have had neoprene ones in the past, they fit fine when I am wearing jods but if I have any baggy trousers on I find they are tight on my legs and uncomfortable over the trousers.
