Hi all

Any recommendations? Preferably long, must be waterproof. The two I quite like don’t have any reviews…

- Equetech hydro rider waterproof ladies long jacket
- Covalliero Ladies Long Waterproof Rain Coat

Need to be able to ride in it and fit a body protector under it - I’ll likely size up for this though. No equi drys, I don’t like the way they look.

Thanks

Weatherbeeta Kyla coat all day long. I used to be an account manager for Weatherbeeta and that was my best selling product in all the time I was there.
I organised for Miri Hackett to have one to try - just have a look at her social media to see how much of a success that was haha! She’s obsessed. Best coats ever in my opinion.

I bought one for winter last year - it's brilliant, kept me dry all winter and comfy to ride in too. I think I would size up though to fit a body protector underneath. Gutted I won't be able to wear mine again this winter as I'm expecting and don't think a bump will fit underneath when I'm heavily pregnant!

This. I've got 2, one for the yard and one kept at home for walking the dog. I got a Medium which comes up a big but fine for up the yard with layers, the small is better so if you size up there would be room for a bp.

I have the Toggi winter defender and it kept me bone dry all winter. It’s not the warmest coat but is loose enough to fit layers underneath So I kept plenty warm enough too.

I try and use other cheaper coats on non wet / damp days, which I do put though washing machine snd save waterproof ones for rain days

I think it’s too warm for physical activity. I want waterproof light weight, so can layer up or down underneath. This is good coat but it is WARM IMO.

I’m part lizard, so working on the yard in winter I have thermals, a hoody, a fleece, a gilet AND my Kyla coat over the top. There is no such thing as too warm for me ?

Thank you! I think my local stores will have one of these I could try on.

Is it too warm with a baselayer/thin thermal on? I get pretty hot (and pretty cold, I am terrible with temp regulation) but I’d always rather be slightly too cold than hot.

yes IMO. I tried a mate’s on last autumn. It’s an insulated coat. If I’m schooling / doing active yard jobs and it’s above zero it will be too hot for me and most of our winter is above zero.

Thanks for the suggestions everyone.

Tried on the Equetech hydro rider coat today and purchased it online on sale (£40 cheaper than in my local shop!). Felt lovely, not too hot and didn’t feel as thick as the weatherbeeta one, medium size fit my body protector under it and it has SO many pockets. Inside and outside zipped pockets and pouch pockets for hands. Hood can be zipped into the neck and back has a zip for riding

Will update when I wear it in the rain. Fingers crossed it is waterproof as marketed.

I spied a long raincoat on Rydale the other day for £35. It doesn’t have any warm lining but if it’s truly waterproof then I think it might be quite good!

Try on in the shop and then bought elsewhere on-line. Shop won't be there much longer.

It's difficult, granted.

Shop is extremely popular and receives more than enough custom. Just because I didn’t purchase the coat, doesn’t mean I didn’t buy anything else which was a reasonable price.

Cost of living is high for everyone. It’s not my duty to help keep a shop open when I can save myself money.

Definitely the Weatherbeeta Kyla! I love mine, best waterproof riding coat I have owned. It is warm but not overly warm and has suble little zips under the arms that you can unzip for ventilation. Oddly it's also breathable despite being waterproof, never feel clammy, if you know what I mean!

Ah my ariat has those zips, they’re brilliant (but a shock if it’s cold and you lift your arms up while sweaty ?) I’ll definitely consider the Kyla if the coat I ordered doesn't work out.

I’m also in the market for a good waterproof coat. My problem with the weatherbeeta one is that it says 100% waterproof but not under how much pressure. So it could be waterproof in a shower but not a downpour. My last one said waterproof to 8000mm and it leaks like a sieve in heavy rain, so I’m looking for one that is 10,000mm plus rated. Anyone know what the weatherbeeta actually is please?

My Equetech is 16,000mm

I'm another in the market for something which will keep my legs dry when riding. I started looking at the Kyla due to the comments above, but I noticed a number of the online reviews mentioning that it's showerproof at best which has put me off. I'm also looking at the mountain horse Alicia coat - does anyone have any experience of mountain horse coats? I love their boots but have never tried their clothing.
