Has anyone ever heard of, or practices putting WD40 on horses manes & tails for the show ring?

This is a tip I have heard, but will not try on my lot.... it sounds so odd.......

Never heard that one before! Its not something I'd use personally - just as I don't use table polish/cleaner on legs/tails/manes, although I know people that do!

I use furniture polish its cheap keeps mud from sticking and makes them look shiny. Not sure about WD40 but it can hurt so try it same sort of stuff as polish

Dont you mean the "back to black" clear spray for bumpers & tyres? Never use WD40 on a horse- BTW its one of the common causes of clipper rash

A friend of mine uses WD40 and swears by it, it's silicone based anyway. Just don't light up a fag whilst using it!

Personally I prefer Supreme Sparkle - and then I wash it out after the show.

My boy's mane and tail are very precious to me and I avoid anything with silicon etc in it.

If I have run out of clipper oil, I will use WD40 in a pinch.

Whatever happened to people using Cowboy Magic, Canter Mane and Tail Conditioner and the like? WD40 - no way. Would stink to high heaven for a start off I would have thought
