Well, after months of nagging the OH and scouring the ads I have finally succeeded in purchasing a LR pony for my little boy. The rationale that finally swung it was that my TB was lonely since he came home to live with us last month ;)

My little boy has been obsessed with my TB since he was tiny and has been helping me every morning and night mixing feed and filling haynets for a few months now. He has also been insistent that his pony should be called Ghengis - but the chances of that were always minimal so we settled on this being an alias!

Last week, we brought Honey/Ghengis home - here she is after a quick bath - bit chubby, bit hairy but very cute!

Jacob was VERY excited to see her and here he is all togged up for his first ride at the weekend:

And here they are in action!

And love this one with a very proud Daddy:

She has been a little darling. She is green but is very loving and genuine and really good on the lead. I have a couple of small jockey volunteers who will assist with her schooling going forwards and also get her out and about to some shows this year. Hopefully Jacob will continue to love his Honey/Ghengis pony and we can look forward to some LR showing next year. He is only 2 1/2 and this was only his second time on a pony - but I was so pleased and proud of him - he loved every minute!

My TB, Baz, is very besotted with her and has been like a kid in a sweetshop since she came but she is definitely boss! Here they are spending some 'quality time' together:

Really pleased with her so far - fingers crossed she continues to be as lovely!

She is a little cutie pie:) Particularly loving her ears for some reason. Not sure she is a Ghengis though ;)

[Whispers] I'm not sure she's a Ghengis either but considering that 'riding Ghengis' was all his Dad heard from picking him up from nursery to getting home I think that little Honey may well be stuck with her alias for a while!

Oh she's a pretty little thing... Your lad looks pleased as punch up there...

Hopefully it's the start of a long friendship for them both... :)

Aww she is sweet and I love how excited he looks bless him! When you said Ghengis I was imagining some enormous rolly polly hairy thing, I think she is quite a petite wee lady :-D

How cute does that little boy look in his riding gear, i am also loving the picture with his dad, it put a smile on my face.

Thanks everyone for you kind comments - know I am hopelessly biased but I do think that Honey and Jacob make a very cute double act!

We've just pencilled in her first outing - off to do some LR and inhand showing with my 8 year old niece at the beginning of May at a local show. Aim is to get her used to being out and about this year and have some fun. Once we know she will settle in the ring (which I'm sure she will) we will shopping for mini tweed/navy jackets for Jacob!

I'm actually really looking forward to having fun with a pony lol! :D

that is so cute it brought a little 'mummy tear' to my eye:o:D i miss my kids being so small and cute lol:eek: Jacob looks absolutely thrilled to bits with his 'Ghengis' and the pic of him and Dad is pure happiness:)

Love the pic of them with dad. It is fab when they get their first pony. When I bought my son his pony it was fab. They had such a close bond. wee minty died almost 2 years ago, Kyle was well too big for him by then but loved him to bits. Took him quite some time to get over it. Hope your wee lad and his pony get on just as well.

ets. what kind of bedtime stories are you reading that he knows about ghengis khan, maybe opt for the gruffalo tonight or is it the story of attila the hun? :D

well you wont outgrow ghengis for many years!!! enjoy! and keep dad involved!!! though little children dont enjoy winter as they get too cold riding (sitting!!) so make the most of the next 7 months! pony (sorry ghengis!!) looks lovely and quality sure you can teach your horse to do ride and lead, for times when your child cant ride! photos are lovely..
