I decided this evening to put the three neds on diy livery at the yard in the village. Our field is a mud bath already and as we only have a couple of acres I don't want it to get trashed.

It will be a bit of pain with three stables to muck out every morning, and I will cry at the extra £350 a month I will be paying out but it will save my field for next year

Sounds like a good plan, I have already gone through my winter hay as kept horse/ ponies in winter paddock at home (which is a mud bath) to allow grass to grow in fields, hoping to put them back out in grass fields this weekend but do need to source some extra hay now. But have been informed that winter is supposed to be a mild one, hopefully they are right.
