Dear All!

So it has been nearly a year since I did a last update, and what a year it has been! So after Tweseldown, sadly Goring was cancelled so that signalled the end of the 2015 eventing season and I jetted off to Spain to start my 20 week work placement under the eye of a Grand Prix dressage rider.

This was such an amazing experience and I am so grateful that my parents were willing to support me on this adventure and all the team in Spain who transformed me as a rider, out in Spain is so different to here (well, where I was anyway!) the children were able to ride 2x a week from October to June for a one of payment of EUR140. However, these horses were not your standard run-of-the-mill ponies, nope! Imagine beautiful Andalucían stallions that knew all the PSG movements :D! Being able to ride these horses for free at least once if not twice a day improved my riding ten fold plus, more importantly my Spanish is now more than acceptable!!

So after getting back from Spain, Alfie started boot camp, after a summer of being spoilt, pampered and leisurely hacking he was not impressed when the dressage saddle, boots, bandages ect re-appeared out of the tack room :D We spent the majority of the winter hacking, hunting and slowly losing the belly and gaining muscle, so that we could start our campaign season!

So, this leads us to Wickstead. We had a fantastic training day at boomerang doing some show jumping/xc, sadly no video or pics as due to the weather the cameraman decided to wait in the car, and I do not blame him! Alf was a general super star, jumped everything foot perfect so I was quietly optimistic that we would have a good day at Wickstead.

Well, it was safe to safe we had a fantastic day! first SJ round since April so we entered the 90cm and the 100cm. In the 90 we had an unlucky pole as I let him rush down a related difference. The 100cm however, went really, really well! his canter is so much more developed which means that I can just point and keep the leg! Please see video!

Though, as I now ride out I seem to be tipping forward a tad to much so trying to break the habit fast!

So our next competition will be aston le walls for the be90....!

Also, if possible a favour, I am in my final year at Uni and doing a dissertation...I was wondering if anyone could either fill out my surveys or share them?? One is for employees and one is for employers. It is about the National Living wage so inorder to fill it out, you either need to be a groom in full time employment over 25, or employ full time staff! Surveys are linked below and any help is very much appreciated!
