We are finally getting there!! I had my boy since December and started jumping him last month, well i felt like giving up last month, never done really any jumping myself and as soon as i look at a jump my legs go to jelly and i freeze...not helpful for me or the horse when approaching it!

But thanks to my wonderful horse, he has a lot of testing points but jumping isn't one of them, and my great friend/instructor we've managed to get us from this:(which was still after about 3 lessons )

In the last fortnight :D
We have a long long way to go but i can finally feel improvement, my legs are still like jelly but i'm not freezing so much and trying to listen and think about what we are doing!

So anyone who feels nervous...there is hope for us all....i was the worst on my yard for jumping nerves and now we are doing the lil local show on sunday! Wish me luck:D

Wow your position has improved 100% from the before pictures, really well done on perserving :)
What a stunning looking chap too, sounds like a real sweetheart.

Good for you, you look great! Beautiful horse too - you give me hope that I can pick up confidence in jumping! :D

What a lovely storey. Well Done to you for sticking with it. Good Luck with the show and your horse is stunning. xx:)

Solo girl, it was just a case of practice practice practice on tiny jumps then my instructor sorting out my position etc once my confidence had gone up. It worked!!! :-)

See this is more evidence of people lying and not being honest on this forum

Your steed is clearly neither "pink" nor a "pony" :D

Well done! :D

Well done! :D

Ha ha :D I wondered what impression that would give lol!

It's been my log in name for EVERYTHING (ebay, mobile, forums) since i was a kid and rode a lil pony called pink, i daren't change it or i would forget and never get to read such lovely comments about my gee gee ever again he he!!:D:D:D

Great photos, and such a lovely horse. Wack your stirrups up, you'll find balancing so much easier.

and dingle also gave me the same advice....

It feels like i'm ridding very short but your right, it the pictures i'm not..... i've got the show sunday but i haven't practiced jumping shorter than that yet, should i do that for the show or is that silly to do it without practicing in your opinions?
I'm hacking him today could wack them up for that to get used to them?

And Thankyou everyone for your lovely comments about him, i got him 6 months ago on full loan with VTB and me, we & he has improved loads (we do somework, ground or ridden every day and it's been hard!!) but we still have sooooo far to go but the last month he has come on leaps and bounds so very very happy with him :D Hopefully i've saved enough by end of this year to make him mine :)

I'd also suggest popping your stirrups up a bit more, it should help you keep your lower leg secure and under you. I would just do it next time you jump, whether at a show or not, one or two holes shouldn't be too drastic, but should help you feel more secure.

Soooooo update time :p

We were rained out of our first show.... :( but we did have a onsite show, slightly cheated as he knows the surroundings but he was still very scared of all the people, cheering and horses around so he did great!

So our first official show and we got clearound 1ft 9 and 2 ft 3 :D:eek::D
My hat fell over my eyes here lol....

Fabulous pics, and what a wonderful little horse you have.

Pop you're stirrups up a few holes, and you'll really look the picture.

You look great together! I'm a complete wuss jumping but improving my position has really helped with my confidence. I'd agree with putting your stirrups up a hole and what really helps me is doing lots of work on the flat in jumping position (in trot and canter) to really get the weight down into the stirrup and improve the lower leg. :)

Thankyou! :D
Thats def the type of practice i need to do, my legs go well back and my toes down when i jump :p

Amymay and some others said about putting them up too, i did one hole but i need to go up again by the looks of it, then if any more i'll have to borrow some leather punchers

Thankyou...he was a total star! Next show on 1st July in a totally new strange place for him.....That'll be the real tester as he is the most nervous horse i have ever known - or great big pansy as the term should be :D....dropping down to 1ft 9 for that one though

Fantastic :) Very well done to you both. Small steps at a time lead to big acheivements. Your horse is gorgeous, looks very honest and genuine :D
