We have agreed a sale on our house today, got a good price for it but the purchasers want to try for a six week completion...eeeek!

We are selling so that we can buy somewhere with land to have the horsies at home but we havent found anywhere yet. However, we feel we should accept their offer and get sold so that if the perfect property comes up we are in the perfect position to buy. However, it does mean that we are going to have nowhere to live in the meantime!

We have two dogs so renting is not going to be easy, but we are trying to have a positive attitude that we will find somewhere. I was just wondering whether it would be possible to find somewhere on a farm/livery yard which might be more accepting of dogs and where we could have the horses with us as well- do these kinds of places come up for rent?? If so, where would they be advertised? We are in Devon and would like to stay within 30 minutes or so of Exeter but not too fussy about size of accommodation etc...arrrggghhhh I hope we find somewhere!!

I don't think it would be too hard to find somewhere that allow you to have dogs (as long as they are house trained etc...)- we have 5 dogs and 4 cats, and have found it relatively easy to find rented houses (3 in the last two years) that allow us to have them, (they do seem a bit 'shabbier' places but doesn't worry us

congrats! a friend sold her place and rented somewhere, complete with dogs, horses, etc, for months until they found their dream property. had to put furniture into storage etc but it put them in a very strong position as buyers.

oof is there some way you can ensure against them pulling out as well? some friends of ours have just been to solicitors to SIGN... and told the sellers had changed their minds due to a better offer - I know that's not your situation, but protection would be good! Good luck and congrats!
 
Try Stags - they have loads of rental places that take dogs, the more rural the better. We stayed at Eastdown farm on the Broomford Estate - just outside Okehampton and had our horses and dogs with us.

how about one of these? or look for a house local to a yard and rent there. We have had several people keep their horses with us while they house hunt. seems to be the sort of area they want to be in.
 
congrats!!

My parents sold our house before we had found anywhere. They managed to rent a very nice house & we have 2dogs, 6cats & (at the time) 3horses. Admittedly the horses had to be on livery for a while, but it left them in a briliant position purchasing. We have now found our house with 13acres (ok not quite dream house as requires a lot of work, but its getting there).
 
Thanks everyone.... however I am getting more and more stressed about where we are going to live in 6 weeks time! I have my dissertation due in beginning of May and one more set of exams until I finish Uni so we are tied to Exeter, my Mum hates dogs so we cant stay with them and we have no other family down here! Could you all start saving your cardboard boxes for me please in case I have to set up home down at the yard??!!

Bosworth- saw those ones but wondered whether they are not coming to a finish now as they are winter lets and we will need something beginning April. The one in Christow looks interesting however the paddock is shared so prob couldnt keep horses there and the other one is too expensive. Your yard looks amazing- if anything very near you comes up for rent please tell me and my neds will be in the post to you with me following shortly behind...!
 
We have three dogs and had no problem finding somewhere to rent. The place we are in now is owned by the farmer next door and he has a couple of stables and grazing so now my horses are "at home" too. It can be done! Good luck
 
here is another idea.............for short term solution as it is out of season still there is always a holiday let, doesn't matter what it looks and if they haven't had bookings for a while then you might get a good deal
 
Hi there,
I used to work as a letting agent and although all of our properties had No pets on the details, i would say that at least 50% of them would allow dogs if they are trained and do not bark all day!
Ask the agents they may know of some where.
Also register your details with a few letting agents and they will do the work for you.
