Robin escaped twice. First time we thought it was my fault. Next time we realised he can actually lift the catch for the door. Yo wasn’t cross although he now has a chain on door. Even so he still opens his door just can’t get anywhere! Another horse escaped recently. Spent a lovely night eating hay and checking for treats and generally causing carnage. Yo still not cross.

I'm not cross either I think its pretty funny!
She has a chain on her door (gate) because she can open the bolt in seconds. Her neighbour also has a chain, as Doris has let her out a few times too!

This happened at my old yard once. But the horse managed to eat 10 feeds which were in bins outside the stables, ready for breaks. What a nightmare

Glad she didn't get anywhere

The Beast used to escape at her last yard in Cumbria because the kick bolt was a bit dodgy. No access to anything so she just used to go for a wander, chat to everybody and then lean over the old pony's door to "share" his net.

Such a clever girl! When I worked in a riding stable there was a grey gelding who used to let himself out of his stable every night without fail. In the morning he would be waiting for us like an apparition in the early mist.

I'm gad she didn't take full advantage of her freedom. The farm has electric gates, so she couldn't have got off the property, but there are several business units, and a selection of houses/gardens that she could've visited!
Good girl! Treats for Doris! ?

We have clips for all the stable bolts which foils most of them (and me half the time) but I was gaslit last week by the feral, lived on a mountain for 15 years, can't be touched stallion who knows how to wiggle around the clips to get into the stable the hay is stored in. The YM had to assure me that she believed me I HAD clipped the door, he was just smarter ?

I had a donkey that could open nearly everything. He could even undo those bolts in gates that had a drop down cover at one end, which had to be held up while the bolt was pulled out. The only safe fastener of any sort were the ones he could not reach.

I was on a yard where one horse just bust out of her stable. It was an indoor corner metal and wood one. She fully bent the frame. Must have taken some doing!

She did this more than once and would go wandering up and down scoffing all the breakfasts left outside the other horses' stables.

I was on livery at a yard where first to arrive threw in breakfast - nearly left outside each horse's door with a cover on. Really confused me to find empty bowls one morning. The escapee had put herself back in her stable ?

Doris really does look pleased with herself. Bet her poor owner was mortified!
