So, today we took Honey to her 3rd ever show to do an Intro.
Her first two shows were a bit of a disaster, first one resulted in her completely freaking, launching herself into next arena and being eliminated. Second one although calmer wasn't much better. So we were very apprehensive about today as it's a spooky venue.
Anyway, she was a bit of a diva in the warm up. Napping towards the other horses for some reason and rubber necking. When I wouldn't let her and kicked her on she threw a strop and threw in some bucks. So needless to say I wasn't particualarly confident about the test.
Anyway, went in to arena (we were first in) and the flowers were ridiculous. Blo ody loads of them everywhere massive and seriously bright! She took one look at them and objected- muchly. Got her in the arena, the judge very kindly let me have a coupld of mins and I couldn't get her up the blumin top end to get to A as she took offence to yet more flowers and was spinning, running backwards and felt like she was threatning to go up. In the end with paitence and encouragement she went past them and I quickly put her up into trot and went around the arena.
Bell went, she was so tense and really not in front of the leg. She relaxed a bit after a while and we seemed to be doing everything where we were meant to. She was VERY against my inside leg on each rein, think because she was trying to dart sideways away from flowers and wanted to spook so keeping her forward and straight was an absolute nightmare.
Free walk on a long rein felt stuffy so I pushed her on a bit and she went up into trot, TWICE. GAH. Pilot error, should'ved just left well alone!
Salute, what the hell was I doing lol?? I honestly didn't even realise I'd done that until I looked back at the video. I obviously really wanted it over with lol!
Anyway, left arena feeling satisfied but knew we could do a lot better and was dissapointed with the free walk so didn't expect much at all. We were just very glad to have got her out though and were pleased in general with her behaivour.
We were meant to be doing prelim too however out time for that wasn't for over 2 hours and we thought, at this stage it may be asking a lot of her to stand about for that long, plus we just couldn't really be bothered lol so we left and I said I'd go back and collect sheet later.
Went back and went to collect my sheet and the lady got a red rosette out of the box, I looked and said to her 'you do realise I'm '******* ******' (My name) and she said yes, I know and smiled and said well done you came first. I WAS ABSOLUTELY THRILLED
So, so pleased
We came first with 67.35%
In her 3rd ever show when she was tense and spooky. I am so pleased with her, bless her heart.
Here's the video of the test. No CC please. I know she needed to be more in front of the leg and forward to the contact and I know my hands needed to be carried more in front of me but blah, I was stressed and so was she so I'll let us off
