5am start and a forecast that looked less than promising could only mean one thing......fife show time! Our class was third in and we were still getting sorted when they called our class meaning bridle, number and show jacket were thrown on and a mad dash over to the ring (There had only been 1 entry in each of the first two classes)
Torin only went and won his in hand class, which led to lots of pats for pony and many tears from myself and mum. Its our first red frilly and our first bit of prize money, also his first county/agricultural show
Popped his saddle on and quickly warmed up for the ridden class. Ring was on a bit of a slope and for a long 17hh horse who's not 100% balanced cantering downhill it was quite difficult to keep it together for those parts especially after the small bout of rain we had just before our class. Bit of over exuberance in our 'gallop' dropped us to 5th but we were well placed in a very strong class and it wasn't our day in the championship..smiles all round
Its been a hard slog with Torin, we've worked really hard over the past year and it hasn't been easy especially as a lot of people have been less than encouraging telling me he's too big, he's too green, he'll be too much for me or he's not talented at all, I'm just glad that we're starting to prove them wrong!
With our frilly, ignore the messy string we didn't get time to trim it before the first class but I did fix it after this
And one from back home with my wonderful yard manager and her daughters show pony:
