Monty gave me some really nice trotwork over poles and then some nice canter transitions this morning (still running on a little and anticipating after the first couple, but much improved even in just a few days - striking off consistantly on correct lead). Our stupid o'clock schooling buddies were popping over a crosspole towards the end of the session, and I'd been planning to jump him for the first time this weekend... but he's been such a star the last couple of days I just decided screw it, give it a go.
It was only a tiny wee crosspole, but it was our first jump and I enjoyed it so much that we did it several times
He's not jumped in at least a year, and it was the first time I've jumped in about 8 years
Can't wait to do more now! Going to see if I can persuade an unsuspecting victim to take pics/video over the weekend.
I really love him, he is just doing absolute wonders for my confidence. Our Wednesday hacking partner said she couldn't believe the transformation - Monty and I led the whole hack yesterday and I was the one constantly looking for canter spots and leading the canters, instead of looking for excuses not to canter at all. This from me, who was terrified to canter him the first time just 4 weeks ago!!
Sorry, gushing luvvy-duvvy post AGAIN!
