Qualified for the Royal London Show!
Went (with the rest of the world) to Arena UK yesterday for their Riding Club show and to try and qualify for the Royal London Show. We arrived, the parking area was packed as they had the show, games and showjumping all happening at once. Parked up by chance next to Crazymare (from another forum), she immediately recognised Donkey (well I think she recognised the car and trailer after standing for two hours in the rain at Keysoe trying to get Donks to load.
Team Donkey unloaded the beast, and CM bless her helped me rescue Donks tail, she had removed her tail bandage and sits on the back bar and it resembles a fuzzy bush. With Donks ready we went down to the rings to watch CM in her in hand veteran class sadly she did not get placed, non of the greys were placed (umm ..
) We went into the inhand Hunter seven in total, Donkey was her usual laid back self so was very pleased when we pulled in 3rd and yes we had qualified!! Queue big grin
!!
By this time my first ridden class was about to start so Team Donkey changed bridles, saddled up, oiled legs and feet and I changed in breeches and boots, change of hat and into Riding Club Horse class which I had been told was to be judged as Ridden Horse. There were about 9 in the class my show was dreadful, dire, awful flat and just yuk
so I did not expect to get placed and did not. What frustrated me was that it WAS judged as Riding Club Horse and the first 4 were in snaffles the judge chatted away to them while we did our shows and then gave them all qualifier cards. I wish they had defined the class better as I would have been more than happy to show in a snaffle but since I did not know the judge I dont think it would have made any difference.
Final class, Ridden Hunter, change of bridles and into the ring I think I have found the secret to making her forward going pull her mane
!!! A tweak of hair and the neck arches and she springs forward so yes when judge was not watching I am happily tweaking away!!! Next trick, if they say line-up in any order is go to the top of the line (well it is the only time I will get there) so we have to give our show first and she has not completely gone to sleep. Show went well, well we cantered on correct leads and did not fall out of canter and she even attempted a gallop
!!! So you can imagine how delighted when we were pulled in second!!! Queue another grin!!
So a good day for the Donkey I may moan that she is lazy, but I love her and completely trust her whatever the situation. A special thanks to Team Donkey hubby (who was not going to stay but did), Jean from our yard and of course mascot Bumble Dog.
Photos will be posted in the Picture Gallery (just for Pagancloughie!!!!)
