G is now sporting a trace clip!!
I brought him up and bathed him the day before yesterday in preparation. So fetched him today, gave him a thorough grooming and stood and waited for the lady doing the clipping. OH phoned to say she'd phoned and couldnt get here. G knew something was going on and had started to sweat again, as has been so usual for him these last couple of weeks. It wasnt the lady's fault, she genuinley had a problem but I'd already bathed him twice and as he's out 24/7 didnt want to bath him again next week.
Then someone offered to lend me their clippers, so off I went.
Can I now confess I've never done a trace clip before???
. In actual fact all I've ever done is help clip (ie take over whilst the other person has a rest) lol.
Turned clippers on and G freaked. He's never been clipped before. I got my home made twitch out (thaks Fiona_C!) and waited for him to settle. Handed mum the end of the twitch and she started saying how he didnt need it. I put the clippers on him and he stepped back, mum let go of the twitch...
So I stuck his head in a bucket of Happy Hoof and tried again. Bless, he stood like a lamb. It took me a good hour to do and I kept having to 'up' the line as it wasnt even, and keep going back and try and sort out the lines.
It's not exactly neat, but it looks okay!!
I didnt let mum near the clippers (and she's the clipping expert) and she said it looked really good
.
Turned him out and he went "yippee" and spent ages galloping round and bucking. Me thinks he feels alot better!
So, once he's used to that, and when the hot weather sets in it'll be full clip! We're not showing M&M this year so it doesnt matter so much anymore.
Anyone know where I can get some cheap clippers??
