I passed on the dog tag! YAY!

I learnt so much in a short time. Realised how much i had got wrong with my other dogs. Emma learnt "watch", can now sit, lie down (got to work loads on that though) stand up and look at me when I call her name. I spoke to them about Trojan too and we will see how Emma gets on then see if we can help Troj to overcome his fear of people.

I think we are doing the kennel club good citizen awards. But didnt have my glasses so no idea what I have signed up for! LOL! I hope it isnt dog agility LOL!

The only thing I wasnt sure about was the competition stand and whether I should do that for showing and which side to walk to heel. So any showing peeps can you help? We are a way off that anyway at the moment. I m not sure I will show her but it depends how she grows. The main thing is I have a well behaved dog.

The best thing for me tonight was she was so much happier with the other dogs so my little show on Saturday paid dividends. Hopefully going to another next weekend. Even when one dog was a bit aggressive towards her she didnt cower. She even made friends with a Lab!

The class was a bit long for her (1 hour) but not energetic but she had lost concentration by the end tbh. She is now very tired!

So pat on the bum for Emma!:):):)

For heelwork and for showing both, the dog should be on your left.
'Normal' :p showing dictates that the dog should trot along beside you, similar to the heel position, so it isn't that different.

This is what I love about good training classes, no matter how long you have owned dogs, a fresh pair of eyes always helps and you can always learn something new :)
And the watch command is something I ding on about so much, because, isn't it so much easier to train any command, when the dog is looking at you, and paying attention? :)

Glad you had a good time and I love how every Monday my dogs are knackered because of training, more so than hours and hours of walking :p

I thought dogs should be on the left.I didnt even know about the watch command. But I guess I realised I was doing something wrong when I came in here. My dad did all the training with the sheps and he was always going on at me about my dogs and how I was using the wrong commands but tbh it wasnt an issue with Hooch! He started training Troj but then Troj had growth rate probs so he stopped.

I did have a good time ( much better than ironing) and it is much easier having a dog that is motivated by food. Hooch was a nightmare as she was not food orientated! She just pulled like a train and buggered off during the free play sessions. She was a bit of a strong character lol!:) really true to type. Emma is sort of true to type (think thieving and ignoring any reprimand) but not like Hooch so saveable!:) Just got to do it the right way.:)

Hey I may end up with a Mastiff that does as it is told! :D

Really glad it went so well, its surprising how training wears them out, Evie can walk and run for ever it seems, but she zonks out after a training class.

For showing your dog should always be on your left... EXCEPT sometimes in a run up the judge may switch sides and as the dog should always be between you and the judge, you need to be able to switch sides. So you do need to train your pup to run up on both sides,
