Well me and Blue were really brave yesterday!
Bearing in mind neither of us have every really jumped any XC fences other than a couple with JoBo at Denne Hill open day and a couple on a sponsored ride, we went XC schooling yesterday morning with friends and under the guidance of my instructor!
Have to say, i probably wouldn't have jumped much at all if i had not been with my instructor...
So under her instruction yesterday we jumped: small log, small wooden fence (like wooden fillers but not coloured), bigger version, up and down small bank, tractor tyres cut in half - UP hill!
, blue plastic barrels, small steps up and down and bigger step down, metal barrels, double metal barrels, small chair, tractor tyres painted to look like a wiggly snake, giant plastic milk bottles, a 'helsinki step' thing?
All of these fences Blue jumped first time really nicely,
i was sooooooo pleased with him! !
We had walked round and looked at them first so he could see how scary/not scary they were and he wasn't really fussed, which meant he jumped them all first time even though i thought they were a little scary!
The 2 fences he didn't do so well were,
the brush fence, because i wasn't sure what to expect whether he would go through it or jump it so we ground to a halt and he started eating it instead!!!
Second and third times we jumped it though!
And a very narrow little wooden house thing with two tiny trees either side of it, we came up to it straight but as he jumped he jumped sideways and over the little tree!
Ooops!!
After jumping the little tree 2/3 times we finally jumped the middle of the house! We are not so good with narrow fences!
Sooo maybe next sponsored ride we go on i will actually be brave enough to jump some of the fences,
as the only thing he stopped at was the brush fence and i think he just wanted to eat it really!
He was really really good was so pleased!
And with myself as i find XC fences incredibly frightening!
Unfortunately though, no photos as my OH decided he would much rather go fishing than come take some nice photos of us boo.
