Took blade out on his own again last week, he was fine so was really pleased, decided to take him out again when the roads were quiet. We went out early on Saturday so we'd miss mos of the traffic but met a couple of tractors. The first one stopped when I asked and he walked past fine, I made a big job of thanking the driver because they are well known round by us for not stopping, he was lovely about it so was feeling pretty happy.

Went a bit further up the road and met another tractor with a trailer, it was one of them really small old tractors with a big trailer so I asked him to slow down, no chance!! he just looked at me like i was green or something!! he didnt slow down at all so blade started to panic. He turned sidewards when it got almost level with us and started flying sidewards up the road. The stupid man was still coming at us, when I looked round the trailer was in perfect line to run us over if we tripped, great!!

I have to keep really calm on blade or he totally freaks out so i shouted to the man to please turn off his engine before we had an accident which he did eventually then just sat there staring at me!! WHAT A D***!!!!!

I got blade past fine once he'd stopped, couldnt believe he went past at all, all the other cars on the road had to stop, they were really good about it though (small mercies for how bad they usually are!!)

Got back to the yard at last, blade seemed no worse for it, a bit more jumpy maybe but considering the circs I was really pleased with him! Got off and looked, he'd shredded both his back boots and got 3 cuts up his leg!!

Poor baby!! I was so thankful for always wearing boots all round, I get laughed at a bit up the yard cause my horses wear boots for just about everything but just shows that sometimes its worth it!! looking at the state of the boots i wouldnt have liked to see him legs if i hadnt put them on!!

Pretty pointless post really except thank god for boots!!!

Went out and got him a new pair straight away, not risking riding without them!!!

Poor you. I hate idiots, and sadly there are lots of them.
Glad your boy is no worse for his ordeal.
Like you say thank god for your boots. I always use them too, and don't care what people say or think. We leave the yard fully booted, you just never know.

Luckily round here the heavy vehicles are really good, as are the motorbikes. Shame the same can't be said for many of the car drivers

livens up long hours in the cab i expect

I am sorry to hear that one stupid plonker ruined your hack, so glad that you are both ok.
I am sure people won't be laughing at you if they were put in the same position but without boots!
Fingers crossed your next hack is better.
