This I am happy about...however it has taken so long, the boy is struggling now....the meds have been ordered and he will begin them tomorrow morning....not sure why Im posting after stress, tears and what seems like hell for both me and bud there may be light at the end of the tunnel
smile.gif

I know I have not posted but had mentioned to a few, to be honest with everything going on or shall I say wrong in my life, I did not want to jinx myself, he has what I indeed thought he had from day one (not good but treatable)
im not a vibes person, even though I give them
smile.gif
but im giving some to bud
grin.gif

(((Vibes)))) little fella....as the side effects of the meds could be non too nice

And thankyou Viszlak for your lovely PM

I'm so pleased you actually have a diagnosis now. I hope he responds to the meds well. Hugs to you and Bud. Fingers crossed he will soon be back to his happy bouncy self.
x

Me and mine all have paws crossed for Bud. Here's hoping he improves and doesn't suffer any side effects. Let us know how he gets on. J x

Thankyou, im relieved and dubious, I want him to have the quality of life he used to have and to enjoy exercise once again, it's killing me seeing him like this, but I hope to god it will be worth it, at the age of 4, I could not give in and in turn would not let him (poor lad) im a mean mummy.

Thankyou L and Matilda...........my pointer has been unwell and declining at a frightening rate, he presented with collapse upon exercise, salavating, difficulty swallowing and eating (he has lost a good amount of weight) he also was showing symptoms of megasophigus( I was by this stage beside myself) he has extensive tests to rule out everything under the sun, I read up a condiditon I was sure he had but my vet was not convinced and the tests came back negative after a 4 week wait from america
crazy.gif
, however the lab said he should be re-tested, in the mean time I was still adiment he had it, so I went to my mams vets and asked them to look further into my concerns as he was deteriorating badly, he now has what I suspected MYASTHENIA GRAVIS and a pretty bad case of it (it's pretty rare) or largely undiagnosed, so meds begin tomorrow.

I have now read 10 thousand case studies and 3 text books full of it

Aw you are not a mean mummy, he deserves the chance to get on the meds and get his quality of life back. Which seems to be quite acheivable from what I have read. It will all be worth it to see him charging about again, I hope that day comes for you and him sooner rather than later.

I hope his meds do there job when they kick in, please let me know how he does on them and if you need a chat you know where i am plus you have my number just dont phone at 2am when your at work

Aaw so sorry he is poorly. Sending loads of vibes and fingers crossed the medication does the trick, well done you for sticking to your guns and getting the tests done.

Thanks everyone, I will def phone u at 2am L...if not for the laugh
grin.gif

MM....I think I was a nightmare for the vet
smirk.gif
, a definate "I wish u would not look stuff up yourself"
smirk.gif
but it saved my dog or hopefully will, so for that I make no apology, but the vet I turned to in the end was fab, when u find the right vet and have that relationship where you can bring up your concerns and give a litle input it make a world of difference, and im eternally grateful for him listening to me and not discounting my requests.
His words this mornig when he gave me the results where "good call" you where right.
smile.gif
but he did agree with me anyhow, so we hwere both right
laugh.gif

Well phew - kind of - at least you have a diagnosis confirmed at last! I really really hope the medication will take effect soon and that he regains his quality of life, it is the least he can do after putting you through all this stress

I'm glad you have a diagnosis for Bud, and I'm glad he's on some appropiate meds. Stella highly recommends tinned pumpkin puree for a yummy digestible treat.

It is mostly seen in retrievers and short haired German Pointers/spaniels apparently but obs other breeds have been studied for it.
Yep indeedy it is my pointer, he is approaching 4.
