Other than 1 x-pole back in the summer I haven't jumped since Sept 2009 (when she kindly decked me before giving me the worst ride ever!). Add to that that Madam has also lost confidence over fences and you can probably see why neither of us have progressed in the last year!

Having cracked the nemesis of riding in the field this week (yes, riding on grass, silly as it sounds, has been a HUGE mental issue for me!) and spent yesterday happily cantering around, playing with the canter and having an absolute ball I decided to face other demons and play with some jumps.

So I owe a HUGE THANK YOU to so many CR'ers for being a huge inspiration and motivation to get my mojo back :) :) :)

So here you are and yes, they are absolutely tiddly and yes, I am very rusty to say the least(!) and of course CC appreciated as always *must whack stirrups up atleast another 3 holes... stupid dressage saddle and stirrups  * but I thought I'd share as *hopefully* I'll be posting a proper comp report (rather than a lame "We jumped" one) and it is thanks to the many encouraging and inspiring posts on here :)

Won't be long till your posting much the same with your lovely girly!!! And yes, v. lucky with the schooling paddock though you should see other parts of the field....

Fortunately we have 3 horses (2 of which are "fatties") and 6 acres to play with so seem to manage the mud reasonably well. They've just moved from winter to early spring grazing, then will move to the lush (freshly seeded late last summer and not grazed since) patch April-May time while the rest recovers for the summer.

However, I did have to drive my car back and forth over the jump landing sites to flatten it back down tonight.... Perfect for jumping on but still cuts up a little.

I bet you can't wait to jump M - by the sounds of your reports she'll take to it like a duck to water!

She may have already have done a tiny jump.... :D We had mini clear round jumping for the RS kids at the yard last week and she had a major spook at the wings that were left out, so once we'd got over getting near one, I made her walk over the raised pole (6") inbetween and then trotted over it, at which point she went 'Booorrring, lets canter and jump it!' and did a very dainty lollop over it :D

Brilliant! Big pat on the back for you. I jumped my horse tonight too. Don't know quite what has happened to turn me into such a wuss but my horse (who an ex hurdler) is so honest and best of all, he loves it! And I can safely say, so did I

Thanks all :) Feels so good to have turned this corner and finally cracked my pychological issues and more importantly be enjoying riding T more than ever :D

Kirstyl - nice to know I'm not the only one who can be a wuss at times :)

Kirstyhen - good for you! But where was your cameraman?!?!

Kirstyhen - good for you! But where was your cameraman?!?!

Probably asleep! :D I always make sure OH is about when I ride, as despite her saintly-ness she's still a freshly broken youngster, and he finds the whole thing rather boring - Doesn't really get why her falling over a pole is so amazing when I used to jump Henry all the time  :D

Hmmmm, but I bet he'd have the camera poised and at the ready if her halo slipped... Men eh?!

Very well done you! :D:D:D

I think we've all been wusses at some stage in our riding careers

On Thursday I rallied I'd cantered Dizzy more times and for longer than in the two and a bit years that vie owned her (due to one or other of us being broken or my nerve being shot).

Vey pleased for you hunny :D

Thanks Mrs M! It probably sounds silly but when I look at how you've faced your fears after your very real reasons for having that it makes me realise that I am just being a big pansie and doing neither myself or my horse any good. I've literally gone from dreading riding in the field, let alone jumping, to trying to work out when the next opportunity is to get in there and have another jump!

The human mind is a very confusing thing!

Well done. I know too well how difficult it is to get over mental barriers we have. It's taken me a while to learn to trust my mare again after she kept bucking me off due to kissing spines but now I can't wait to get going! I'm looking forward to hearing how you progress.

That's ace! But, just to put the record straight, that final fence is not tiddly!!!!:D:D:D:D

So pleased that your mojo has made a welcome return, look forward to lots of fun and reports from you!

:D:D:D:D
