I jumped my Scooby this morning!

Some little kids had been jumping earlier and left a tiny little crosspole up, and while I was schooling him he was being such a good boy (at least compared to the little pain in the bum he was being yesterday!) that I thought... why not. I've never jumped before, and I've never seen Scooby jump either (although I knew he's fine doing it), but I just pointed him at it and clung on for dear life and it was SO much fun!

One of the instructors heard me laughing my head off and came out to see what was going on, only to find me squealing "We're jumping! We're jumping!" with a massive grin on my face. So I did it again so she could see, then she told me to go again but fold more this time, and by the end I was even brave enough to try a slightly bigger one (still only tiny, and we knocked it down, but who cares?).

I couldn't stop laughing, which I must admit was slightly out of terror because I had absolutely no brakes, but mostly it was out of glee and excitement! Scooby loved it just as much as I did - every time I pointed him towards the fence his ears pricked up and he broke into canter (not what I intended, but never mind), and he wanted to do it again and again...! I cannot believe that two weeks ago I was too scared to canter off the lunge, and the first time I rode Scooby I asked someone to take me round on the lead rein because I was so nervous of him... and now look at us!

Scooby is definitely the best thing that has ever happened to me.

To cool off after all that fun, I took him for a walk in-hand down the road to see how he is in traffic - his old owner assured us he's fine, but I wanted to see for myself before I take him out on a hack. He was completely fine, didn't bat an eyelid even at a huge rattly lorry, and we met a nice old man who gave Scooby some apples from the tree in his garden, and wanted me to give him to him in return for his dog, his wife and his credit card!

I am a very happy person right now, which is good because I will need to be in a good mood to get me through the mountain of schoolwork I need to do now. Never mind - I have had the best morning ever!

Well done!
Sounds like such fun, glad you had a fantastic morning.
Won't be long before your jumping a course of fences
