having never owned a youngster before he always seems to be injuring himself or pulling shoes off

25 minutes into Jack's lesson today, he overreached and pulled a front off and he was jumping so well

I think Jack's instructor was as disappointed as he was, he was jumping 1.05 and this would be the first time we would have gone a bit higher. Apparently they grow out of this, fingers crossed and overreach boots from now on

Dont worry, you're not alone. My 6yo is still doing this sort of thing but then he's a clumsy type of horse generally (he could trip over his own feet). Mine pulled a shoe off and loosened another one 2 days before an event last week. And he has an overreach cut and somehow managed to stand on himself as he has a nick on the inside of a hind!

Duke is also 6 and has done all of those things too and managed to pull a nail from underneath the day before an event - spooky!
