Why the obsession with raw? What's wrong with table scraps and who said there was? I don't even have a horse to not feed straights to, arrrggghhh!!!

If there are such a bunch of nasty, unhelpful, closed-minded people in here, why do people bother coming in and why are there so many posts?

I don't normally get involved in these debates, but this comment reads a little harsh & hit a nerve.

I feed my dogs raw. I'm no fanatic, but I feed a species appropriate diet, the same with my horses. I made the change after doing a lot of research.

My labrador was inhaling his food in seconds, whether fed dry or wet. I felt he was at risk of choking or getting bloat. I now feed him big chunks that he has to chew as they are too big to swallow whole & we are both happier with this arrangement.

When I got my border terrier pup he was on kibble. within days of being with me he saw what the lab was getting & just flatly refused to eat his own food, so he is now also on raw.

My horses eat mainly grass, when this is in shorter supply they eat dried grass & other plant matter ;-)

I've never had anything but excellent advice here. I haven't exactly done everything right either, at least first time round. I read, I listened, I went out and did it, I ended up with A (relatively) Good Dog from the delinquent monster I started with.

If your dog runs off, long lining it really does work.

Me! Me! Me! Well sort of ... does it count if I mix straights with compounds lol And if I give some of my horses only straights and some only compounds? It's looking more and more like I'm a lost cause on this site

Maybe people give that advice because it worked for them?

I would also not choose to advise certain things on a forum that I might in real life. Online, I can't see the dog for myself so I'll always err on the side of caution in what I recommend, as some dogs won't cope with some methods.

I think its a very nice bunch of helpful people on here, I'm a serious traditionalist mind, its my age! No raw here, unless they catch it themselves.
