Why didnt we think about fireworks!!!!
Sataurday we went and sorted the stables for Woody (nico's Mum) and PK (our retired TB) we got the foal in and put frankie (mt event horse) in the stable next to him, we then walked the mares out of the field and loaded them straight into the lorry, ramp went up and we set off, gave the mares some feed in the lorry to distract them. Woody didnt even call for him. 10 minute journey, unloaded them and then put them in thier new stables, Pk ate her hayledge and woody just looked over her door nibbling at the hay. She still didnt call.
Went back as my sister was left with Frankie and Nico, Nico wasnt happy, he was throwing himself against the walls, as he was trying to get out they had shut the top door which made him more upset so it was a bit of a viscious circle. Tied frankie up outside his stable while i did him more hay and feed and tidyed his bed, then held nico on yard while my sister did his bed. He was fine while we were there but as soon as we left he was trying to get out so shut top door and left him for 3 hours til 10pm. went back over and checked him, he was no longer sweaty but had barged the top door open, he was settled so left it open. The fact the the fireworks started about 8pm didnt help! his bed was a real mess he had mixed his hay in with his straw! gave him some fresh hay and he ate it looking over door.
The next morning both mum and Nico went out with their friend and both were fine. so stressful first night but ok now.
Does anyone have any ideas about feeding him hay? we have put some in the rack which is at the back of the stable but he wont eat from it as he likes to be by the door. The hay we out on the floor by the door he just digs into he bed then pees on it! He is out at grass during day then in overnight.
