Well finally after weeks of summoning up the courage to do it Hovis and I went on our own round the fields yesterday.
Hubby has been taking him up for a little while now but I've always frozen with fear at the thought of going anywhere on my own with him. Hell I freeze with fear before going out on a hack with someone else!
But yesterday I was feeling the need to do something different with him so off we went. He was a little bit slow going away from home, he didn't nap exactly but he wasn't striding out so I sang to him. I don't think he liked it much but heh!
We got about half way round the field and we then had a battle of wills as he wanted to go faster. Hubby sometimes takes him for a canter and gallop up there and whilst he doesn't do it in the same place I think Hovis knows that he can go for a blast up there.
We had a battle for most of the way back as i only wanted to walk (it was blazing hot never mind anything else) but we got back in one piece.
It's only a little ride and I didn't feel that I fully had control but still it was the first time I've done it so a major hurdle crossed!
I am quite pleased with myself!
