Weaning at 5.5 months…

The foal will be ok won’t she? She will be staying with auntie, who she loves and follows around far more than her mum. Mum is a bit fed up - baby gets nipped sometimes when going to feed, needs to have a chance to put on some weight (she’s holding her own but not as well as I would like going into winter) and to be able to be sedated for the dentist. Baby is happy, healthy and eating well.

Thanks everyone, separated them yesterday in the calmest process ever - they were definitely ready! Mum is extremely happy to have a nice warm stable of her own, and loaded to leave without a single backwards glance. Little one showed no sign that she had noticed that mum had left.
