Weather Apps

The new Met Office app is worse in basically every respect.
Can't stand the BBC one, it is so pessimistic, if there might be a drop of rain it shows a rainy hour/day.
Loads of comments on their fb page about it.
Hopefully somehow they will see sense and revise it.

I liked met office when you could see the wind speed, the temperature a feels like temperature and the rain % all on the same page, now you have to go searching. If anyone can suggest anything more user friendly I’d be interested as I check mine multiple times per day 🤣

Another who hates the new met office site and sent them a damning review that also may have suggested it was designed by a toddler

Thanks for all the app recommendations to try out

I’m not sure what you’re not seeing, or rather maybe what I am seeing is different, but when I open the new app the temperature, general overview (eg. Light showers) feels like, rain percentage and wind gusts are all at the very top and the first thing I see

I’ve just had a proper look and so they are! 😳 It’s been a busy day! 🙈The writing is fairly small though.

So happy this thread was started - I thought it was just me but now feel validated 😂

I'm having trouble reverting the app back to the old version - wondering if its because I'm an iPhone user? I've found the feedback option (which I have left....) but no options to revert to old version that I can find. Any tips?

Checked in to see if anyone had explained how to get back to the old-look MetOffice app... then as I couldn't see it, I (took a deep breath and) had a better look myself.

I can't find the old view, but I can find much more useable info that's much more like it. Scroll down past the weather map, and tap on the box that says "Wind: next hour" - then you get to a screen with the hour-by-hour wind info. Top right of that screen, if you click "Change" you can then choose Temperature, Rain etc and get the hour-by-hour, including Feels Like temps. Seems to have just added another step to the 'what was wrong with it before?' process... but at least it's there.

WeatherRadar is our go to, it seems accurate practically to the minute! I like that you can look for rain or wind or temperatures separately, and that it pinpoints where you are on the weather map. Excellent app.
I second WeatherRadar. It's the one I tell everyone about. You can look out of the window and usually the weather on the app is what's happening outside.

Same. Im an iphone user too.

Metoffice is awful now. So pleased I'm not the only one who has sent negative feedback. Am currently away and their forecast accuracy for here is very low so have sent another rant.
Windguru is another one I use.

Thank goodness it's not just me! I hate the changes, I sent negative feedback too. I can only assume they wanted to have the same look and feel of other weather apps. The irony is, I didn't like the other weather apps so was loyal to the Metoffice!

Is it a weather app? I'd love a sarcastic weather app so long as the forecast is accurate and conveys the info I want in a simple and readable manner.
Yep it’s a weather app, it’s easy to read and accurate. You can set the profanity level, how left/right wing you want it to be etc.

Giving Carrot a go. Its forecasts seem in line with the Met Office and it’s a better interface. Only annoying thing is that stuff like the radar map can’t be accessed unless you pay the subscription.

Oh, yeah. And it occasionally talks to me and sounds like a Cyberman. How do I stop that??

“You will be upgraded.”

Oh, f —- off.

ThAnyone got a link for carrot app? When I search it I get wetter online
I found it on the App Store.

Been using it all week.

It's a very easy interface, so far been quite accurate, and I can get all the info I want relatively easily. The fake ads are funny.

I've had to accept the wind speed is in kph rather than mph. I can get used to kph.

Unless I pay for it, I have to jump to a different app for a radar map. That's annoying.

When I open it up, I get an absolutely hammered Cyberman insulting me. I am getting used to this. There doesn't seem to be a way to turn it off, so I am getting more and more accepting of drunk!Cyberman saying bizarrely lewd things. Just don't check the weather at a funeral. If Met Office fixes their bloody app, I might miss him.
