Weather - at what point do you say "nope, not riding in this"

I've just come back from hacking out though I was in two minds whether to go as the wind is really picking up. Twas very windy - we're on the side of a moor and nothing between us and Ireland so when it's windy it's lethal - but we survived, just. My Andy is pretty unflapable but as we rode past the bus shelter and the wind nearly ripped it's roof right off he did jump a little! By the time I got back to the yard on him it was getting even windier so I didn't hack out my arab as when debris starts flying around I think its too dangerous to ride.

Didn't ride yesterday as it was windy and peeing down (or rather horizontal). We went to the Derby House sale instead and spent more money we don't have

Generally I'll ride in wind (unless dangerous) or rain but if it's doing both hard at the same time I'll give it a miss. Don't mind snow or frost but again if it's icey enough to be dangerous on the lanes then I won't bother and would stick to the outdoor school instead - provided that's not frozen!
