Please will someone tell those in charge that it is now mid March therefore:
- the grass should be coming through
- the rain reducing
- fields drying; and
- we should have a good handful of those lovely days that are warm with the sun on your back!

Fields are back to looking like swamps, everything takes ages in trudging mud and I really need some Dr Green for my oldie with bad teeth!

I am really fed up of this now ! Sorry for moaning

Promise me I will be worrying about hard ground soon - Pleasssse

If I get another PPI claim call from those dodgy lawyers I shall be requesting they find out who I need to sue about this weather !

No promises here. Understand how Noah felt now. Been watching scrapheap challenge and thinking of making a hovercraft for pony.

Totally agree.

Just come back from visiting my parents and they were saying their paddocks and turnout are back to a boggy marsh, horses are stabled again, grass is negligible, more moss than anything on one of them.

They also have a ditch running at the rear of their place and it is full to the brim.

Can we pleeeeease have some sensible weather now?

Its depressing isnt it? awful.

It was clear at 7am this morning, by 8am it was snowing, by 11am we had a couple of cm of snow, by 12pm it was starting to sleet and now its raining and the snow is thawing

I'm on my third change of clothing already and about to go out and move a huge bale of hay from under a tarpaulin to my hay store bit by bit while the ponies watch from the shelter of the stables

Hi Polo's mum,
This may be cold comfort, but here it is: I live in a part of South Africa where we should have had a lovely dry and mild winter, light spring rains, and a hot summer moving into a warmish dry(ish) autumn.
Not a chance. I've had a year of mud, a handful of very hot days, and the rest has been drizzle or pelting rain.

Certainly the past year seems to have given riders useless weather, wherever they are; on the upside, the weather this year can only be an improvement on last year.

I hope ALL our weather improves. Immediately!:)

Just had a massive hale storm - just taking the mick now!

I hope us all having a rant will make us feel a little better

Jax - please can you guarantee that spring will start on Thursday ?!!? - I think I might be able to make it until then

Ancient Hacker - jealous of you in SA, I worked out there for a while taking out horse riding safari's - had the time of my life.

No restrictions on the moaning - but anyone living somewhere where it is too hot and dry - I'll have to take time to consider my polite response!

This may be just to pay me back for last spring when it was really dry and I was moaning that the grass wasn't growing because of the lack of water !!

No guarantees (sorry), but here is the Met Office forecast for here on Thursday (it is *dry*)

I took the girls out on their ponies. Braving it in the rain, then turning to heavy rain, then at our half way point a hail storm. Motorists looking at our sorry states thinking we must be bonkers, to which I agree.
Never mind I have roast pork and apple sauce soon followed by apple crumble!

It's awful, the weather is thoroughly depressing me, the mud and standing water is all back.

I've lost all motivation to ride, even just getting off farm I get caked in mud doing the gates etc. Sigh. :(

It's rubbish. Today is the only day of the week where I can hack for as long as I like and I have been waiting for a gap in the weather all day. Meant to get better at 5pm so I am going to get her in at 4pm and we are going out at 5pm whatever happens!!!:)

Yes.
It is miserable and the horses look miserable and bored too. I am quite sure I don't feel like excersising in sideways rain. :(

The weather just hates me !

Get up early to go a show, the weather looks uncertain.. but just cloudy so that's fine.

Get horse in, clean him and feel it start to rain- cue heavy rain,
stick him in stable and hope it passes... then comes 2 hours of heavy snow and rain ! So give up, abandon trailer in the middle of the yard while horses get fed and turned out again after a rug change.

Due to the weather, muzzles are left off as they are horrid and wet.. finally get last horse out and heavy rain/snow stops, lovely sunshine appears and I'm standing there soaked to the skin !

I gave up on horses today and just went home :p

I am SO done with the weather at the moment . If its not raining , it's freezing . If its not freezing , it's blowing a gale . The fields are knackered , the horses are fed up, and so am I . If I have to drag one more sodden turnout rug across the yard , and then have to wait two days for it to dry out , I think I'm going to scream . At least they're at home though, so I can run out , do a horse chore , run back in , drink tea, run out again . When it was December , I was consoling myself that it was only three months till the weather warmed up . Ha blooming ha .

I am now being punished for complaining - my fields look like I could grow rice again after constant rain all day !

It's not just the horses - my chickens aren't happy at all and we've lost 2 piglets now and I'm sure it's the damp/ cold.

My OH is about ready to sell up and move back to a town!

You're not alone, Polos mum - this past spring all my bears breeches (acanthus mollis), which have been fine for about 2 decades, turned black and rotted into the mud. Lousy weather everywhere.
