Weather forecast

I think I just heard on the radio that Manchester have cancelled their NYE fireworks due to the forecast wind
Jolly good, but if you think that’ll stop all the private individuals who’ve already spent a packet to send up in smoke and impress their guests - please reconsider, and stand by for storm force winds redirecting all their so*ding fireworks straight into your barn....🥺

The wind has arrived. Currently gusting about 65mph+.

Ponies are out but will be coming in about noon when the heavy rain is due to start. They'll just stand in the field shelter, so they may as well come in.

Luckily, they are both very sensible coming in, even in the middle of a storm.

Really picking up here now. Horses were out longer than I anticipated so that was a bonus. Still looking absolutely horrible in the morning so they will be in. It's supposed to be clearing up in the afternoon so will get them in the school.

I'm starting to get the impression that 4 - 6 months of the year are 80% of the time complete rubbish now, we really aren't getting cold crisp Winters like we used to, just perpetual rain and storms. It is depressing and even when you have control over your own land management, there is only so much water the ground can take before the horses are just stood in a bog and don't even want to go out in the field.

I keep saying this but the difference even in the past 5 years is very noticeable, I must admit is has been getting me down.

I don't mind the bad weather. Had hoped the gusts (not too strong but still windy) would stop the effing fireworks being set off. Nope already hearing the first bangs 🤬🤬🤬🤬

Fortunately the cats don't overly bother, I'm more bothered in case one hits the house/garden. Professional displays have been cancelled you'd think these numpties might do the same. Nope got to still have them 🙄

There's no way I'd set fire to money at the best of times, but on a windy night outside my house when the stupid things could go anywhere? Yep great idea.

Wind has picked up here and rain has started.

I got the dogs out for a quick 35 minutes this morning. I expect that will be their lot today.

Ferrets were turfed out into their outdoor run this morning about 5am, but I'm going to grab them in and put them back in the summer house in a minute. No fun for them outside when it's so grubby.

I've never heard rain like that before. That was absolutely biblical!

Their is currently a river running down our lane. Worried about it freezing over tonight as its now turning much colder.

We spent an hour in the field sorting out electric fence energisers that some "kind soul" (don't want to get banned) has been messing about with, yesterday afternoon, biblical just about describes it - and the wind!

Although the yard is wet this morning it's not actually raining now and thank goodness the forecast snow is much further north. Horses are standing in the shelter though. At least we will be able to use the booked session at the dog field later.

Just a yellow wind warning here, and a lot of rain (surprised no flood warning too).
Yet, local hunt still out this morning - no regard for safety of their horses or hounds 🤔
So sorry for all of you in the amber warning zone - stay safe x

Typically torrential rain and very strong winds here just as we were doing the ponies at 9. My sister's old dog refused to get out of the car, very wise. Mine were surprisingly were full of themselves. Wish I was, late night sitting up with terrified dogs after WW3 started. These ultra loud fireworks really should not be allowed. Looks like being a miserable day.

The weather was horrendous yesterday evening and last night. Howling wind and rain but it seems to have settled down a bit this morning. The 10 day forecast is looking very cold 🥶

Feckwitts round here still insisted on setting off fireworks, the winds were that strong here but very gusty you'd have thought enough to stop people setting off flammable objects outside their houses but it seems not. Loud too.

Fortunately the cats were fine but one of my parents cats who's rather sensitive, was frightened as they had some around midnight

Think we got off lightly where we are, lots of wind but not as bad as we were expecting.

Just seen the weather warning for snow this weekend though!!! 🤦🏻‍♀️

No fireworks within hearing distance last night but I don’t think we’d have heard them over the rain anyway… there’s a small river running down the lane this morning which I’m hoping clears before it starts freezing. The forecast for the weekend is looking pretty grim too 😱

Nowhere near as bad as forecast for us a bit blustery light rain during the day on Tuesday but must have been torrential overnight from how wet everything was this morning.
Relieved as couldn't face a repeat of storm Darragh ( which we are still clearing up from!!)
Hoping the cold dry weather forecast arrives as then we can get on with replacing panels on the garden fence.
Not a lot of snow on the forecast for us just a bit of sleet and temperatures down to -2 so not too bad.
Let's hope 2025 is a better year with defined seasons!

2-3 inches of snow here *sigh* And with the forecast down to -5 tonight and not appearing to get much above freezing for the next week to 10 days it might hang around for long enough. Deep joy 😔
