Friday was soooooooo awful. Got a call from daughter (knows better than mum at 14yrs) whilst I was at work saying her pony is shaking with cold & wet. He had a rain sheet on (can't remember the last time I felt his ribs) so she decided the only fair thing was to bring them all in for the night tucked up with tea & fleeces. Went riding this morning & chucked them back out in the field with rain sheets on. Tonight they were all stood at the gate waiting to be brought in !!!!! Its only September!! So like the guilty horrible horse owners we are, we lead them into stables, fed tea (no fleeces though) and tucked them up for the night. They have loads of cover in the field, it's just my daughters pony likes his stable and of course can't bring him in alone & leave everyone else out.

I now how you feel I bought mine in last night, same as you tea snd fleeces etc lovely new straw beds, turned them out this morning went up tonight who was at the gate?? The big fat cob! lol all the TB's happily grazing still....

Yes i caved..in again....

yes but they never seem sensible enough to go use the shelter you provide do they.. and then look miserable and cold if you leave them out :-) you gotta love em

put little pony in because of the rain but decided not to put his rug on because he didn't feel cold - just hung it over his stable door. went to get him out in the morning and found he has taken his rug from door spread it around the stable floor and wee'd and poo'd on it. i know i shouldn't have left it there but he made me snigger - didn't think he had it in him, bless!that was last night, left him out and rugged up tonight so his stable rug has a chance to dry out!

my mare is the same, she keeps asking to come in! so i have to oblige, she is tucked up tonight, i prefer to keep her out 24/7 but i adapt to what she wants and this weather is miserable so i prefer for her to have a bit of respite from it, this weather really does suck, it seems we have had a wet couple of years now

Ours were in last night, turned out nude during the day, brought in for tea tonight and then out in M/W rugs for tonight. IN SEPTEMBER!!!!!!!!!!!

I dont go and look on purpose

He has to stay out and that is that..... he has a huge stable, rubber matted and with an easy bed on top of that.... but his arthritis means he is better off outside

mines a pain, hes sweating in medium weights but lightweights get soaked through within 5 mins and i feel mean putting him out in nothing coz he'll just stand by the gate so ive ended up bringing him in. am i being a fussy mum??? hehe

OK, went back out to check & don't feel too awful that we gave in. Two are laying curled up it their beds and the third ( cob like) is still munching at hay, despite I put it in two hayledge nets so it has to be drip fed and not emptied in half an hour lol.

Not looking forward to mucking out (September!!) in the morning.

It seems our horses are as fed up of the weather as us. Mine usually stay out 24/7 untill end of october but hey, 1st of september I had to start bringing them in at nights because of this damn rain. I have to say though that they are only turned out in lightweight turnouts at the moment as it's not cold enough for heavier rugs and I do leave the rugs on them to dry off as I find that better and the rugs are good enough to have kept them dry underneath despite the rain ( Both have neck covers which stops leaking at the neck). I am sincerely hoping that the weather takes a turn for the better in the next week so I can turf my two out again for a while before the real rot sets in! I think we have a real right to moan about the weather in this country as it has been pants for at least two years now!!!

mine have been in the last 2 night as they wanted to come in and are now out with m/w rughs on as they were cold in there l/w i must say it has to be the earliest i have ever had a m/w on and my warmblood is like a teddy bear
