WEATHER WARNING , LARGE HAIL TONIGHT

I have put mine in tonight for the first time since like April due to the thunder (friends horse got struck down dead so I learnt a lesson there) and tornadoes forecast around me according to the local radio station (West Herts) :O We are all going to die! :p. On a serious note mine breaks too easily hes been sound for ages so not risking him being a prat on the slippery ground (not good in wind) and having to have more time off!

No change in routine here, temps were 26 on the way home from work at 5.30pm - now risen 2 degrees since then :(

Fuzzies out in usual night paddocks with usual access to field shelter, fencing 'on'.

Should I be ruinning around like a headless nut putting rugs on sweating fuzzies or putting bed down - stables having been swept out in March! ;)

Well I've put a LW on my wimpy TB in anticipation of the 50mm of rain and it's a glorious sunny evening here in Hampshire! Poor horse is probably really sweaty and covered in flys by now :(. If I do the 40min round journey to go and take it off I can almost guarantee I will wake up at midnight to the sound of golf ball sized hail :/

I have a welshie who will be enjoying the downpour because after all the sun and warmth we've had theyl probably enjoy it PLUS its warm!!!!!

glad it's ok to leave the fencing on as if i turned it off there is no telling where i would find the mini shitland and the welsh A in the morning but can guarantee it wouldn't be in any of my paddocks! :D

Quoted this^^ as for some reason it wqont let me QR.

Sooo just to play devils watsit. here :D
You guys that stable because of thunder storms, arent you worried horse may become more frightened in a stable/ closed in inviroment, or have you thought what would happen if the stable was struck by lightning.
Just winding.... i mean asking. :D

LOL, Fat Boy Slim could do with getting his ample backside stung with a few hailstones. Might help shift the fat.

Love the Yob Cob really...Guess, he'll be acting as a windbreak for the mares. He's a softy at heart.

Love this!! Mine is just known as fat boy, but not thought bout hail shifting the fat. Lol. (*jokes* before i get had up by do gooders)

They'll all be out nekkid by with access to shelter. Cant come in as stable floors just been floated with new layer of concrete.

Brought mine in mainly cos no shelter and also have ancient shettie, now telly not giving thunderstorms and hail? I shall be dead cross now if we dont get it after making the effort!

My horses are hard northerners - they treat hailstone as exfoliation and rain as a bath....they don't melt - their waterproof skin sees to that.

Well I wish it would blooming chuck it down - it's so muggy here I won't be able to sleep tonight!

Horses both out, with massive field shelter if they choose to use it, and electric fence still on. Hopefully it will rain as ground is still so dry!

My lad is in at night so doesn't make a huge difference too me.

^^^ before someone jumps on me for this there are reasons behind it.

Mine are in at night the now as well, as for anyone jumping on me.... Couldnt give a toss, theyre my guys and theyre well cared for, you dont need to explain your reasons to anyone.:D
Same as the jeeez its only rain comment, its horses for courses, ive a warmblood that chitters like a big baby when wet,its pissed wi rain here for weeks and bloody cool some days as well, so mine are get their lightweights on:)

oh no this has made me panic fred has gone to new home and is living out for first time.....now im panicing she wont put the right rug on him :( Oh good grief somebody shoot me now, talk about cant let go! :o

Has Fred moved East?? and would you really want to put a rug on a horse in this weather? It maybe going to rain but he'll cope.:)

That's really naughty - this is the dilemma I have every bonfire night, don't even want to start thinking about storms (I leave out by the way - weigh up risk of injury galloping around fields they know against burning to death in a stable!) I've left the mare and foal out tonight because I have an early appointment and didn't want her stood in all morning, mare will not be happy if she gets wet!

Well that was a let down :( we didn't even get a drop of rain here in South Leics! Its was soooo muggy last night I had to sleep on top of the bed with every window in the house open!

Don't know what time it happened as I slept through most of it but we had a right downpour and a huge thunderstorm lastnight. In fact it's still raining a bit now, and all the horses on our yard were out in it :)

We had the biggest thunderstorm ever last night in s yorks!! Massive thunder & lightening & absolutely chucked it down!! My boy comes in every night anyway, but with how loud the thunder was I wish I had left him out cos I know he will have been going balistic in the stable!

We had a big thunderstorm in Newcastle about tea time yesterday, then rained on and off all evening. It absulutely chucked it down. Now got blue skys, so should be able to ride this morning.

My YO has just brought Ruby in as it's started thundering here :( After a friends Horse being struck by lightning I can't bear to leave her out.
