How are you all getting on riding? i work indoors when i get up the yard its windy , cold , and i just dont have much daylight left so i avoid , plus she is hungry and ready for tea. I rode in the melting snow as we had to keep them in for two days and thats just not fair on my mare so i rode out as far as i could in the fields had a gallop and turned back as the lanes were icy. I wish i worked with horses again as when you are out all in ya gear you warm up and just get on with it. I suppose all those like me who dont have indoor schools have the same prob ??? but we are moving into new light and xmas is over yeaaaaahhhhhhhh x

I always find once you are on its fine. Its just having the energy to groom and tack up! Try and gear yourself up for it and wrap up really warm! It is horrible when the light is fading but think positive - the shortest day of the year is over!

Pete usually has 2 days off a week but recently has had a week off due to ice.

I normally ride twice a day and i havent ridden for the last 3 weeks! All work no play at the mo - hoping to get out on a hack tomorrow if it doesnt ice over again tonight.

Twice a day blimey , when i worked with horses it was 5 times , different horses of course , but it was work, now its cold im wimping out haha but i have been doing it for 30 years now so will have my want to be at home in front of the fire moments, role on lighter evenings .

I find it a lot easier to ride when i get back from my indoor job than when i worked with horses. I put all the cold weather gear and get on with it, i enjoy the fresh air after an overheated office. When i was outside all day i got fed up with being always wet and cold. Although january is a horrible month, the days are longer and spring is coming.......stay positive
