seeing as though rugs are the hot topic of the day...
how do people rate these?
i can either buy a weatherbeeta brand new, or a rhino rull neck stable 2nd hand, whats the best option
the WB has a tail flap so i think thats a plus

thankies

I don't like them .
Sol has one and the filling is too loose and duvety(sp)

I prefer the rugs to be more compact and less squashy and bulky .

oh and it has a huge gap between neck and shoulder on Sol

I have the rhino combo which is on its 10th winter! Apart from current numpty horse managing to break one of the clips off the neck it is as good as new - but then I am addicted to my horseware rugs..... The outer is much tougher than the Belmont and the lining is a really heavy gauge nylon and even after all these years is not coming apart at the seams. For durability I would always go with the horseware - it depends on how long you expect your rugs to last!

My boy has a Belmont combo which i bought a month or so ago. It is a great rug but the only thing i would say is that it comes up quite a bit bigger than most of his rugs. He always wears a 6'6 in all his other weatherbeeta rugs but this one seems rather long in depth and length.
It doesnt seem to matter much though cos it wraps under his belly nicely so keeps him extra warm

I have got the medium weight standard one and use it as an underrug, it is really good and the only one that doesnt pull back at the chest.
My horse is a Weatherbeeta with side gusset fit sort of gal though!

i have one for my boy its been very good and keeps him nice a toasty, he has however managed to rip the neck though it was on a rather sharp bit of metal on his door rather glad he had the rug on as it proteced him and he didn't have a mark on him.

I have the heavyweight combo and really like it. I'm usually a Horseware girl but bought the Belmont as it was cheaper.

Agree with stilton that they seem on the large side, but it wraps around my mare nicely to keep her snug. Can also comfortably fit an under rug underneath it when it's really cold.

ETA - I bought mine a few years ago so not sure if they are still the same, but mine is lined in nylon as well as a nylon outer, so it is really easy to keep clean. If the inside gets greasy you can wipe it off with a warm wet sponge and it dries really quickly.

I love the WB Belmont but the neck part on the combo is a bit long on ponies. We have the standard cut with shoulder gussets for the mares and they're brilliant - really warm, lightweight, well cut and don't slip - they're professionally washed each summer and look like new, have never needed repair, and one is on its 9th winter. I much prefer them to Horseware stable rugs (though I don't like WB turnouts.

My cob has the heavyweight combo version and its brilliant. Its on its second winter and washed up like new and my cob is a messy wotsit

My only gripe is that it does come up big and the x surcingles are quite long, but having read this first on here I bought a size smaller and it fits perfectly
